SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and KIRO Radio announced Andrew Carr of Lynnwood High School as week eight CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Andrew will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the December 2 game vs. the 49ers.
Andrew, a senior swimmer at Lynnwood High School has been selected Athlete of the Week based on his leadership through athletics, academics and community action. Andrew is captain of his swim team and has played a critical role in recruiting young athletes to join the team, making it what it is today. He is also football team manager and trainer. Andrew maintains a 3.92 GPA and is recognized by his coach and teachers as being the type of student who encourages his peers to push themselves to the best of their ability. Andrew is also Vice President of his class and helps plan and execute school and community functions. Andrew's principal describes him as a great leader and even better person. With his free time, Andrew enjoys volunteering at swim team meets and his church's youth group. After college, Andrew aspires to pursue a career in aerospace engineering.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2018 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the season.
