SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and KIRO Radio announced Madison Mestas from Puyallup High School as the Week Eight CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Madison will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the Seahawks vs. Vikings game on December 2.
Madison, a senior at Puyallup High School, was selected the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week based on her dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership and athletic performance. Madison holds a 3.8 GPA while serving as president of DECA club. Madison stays busy by volunteering at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in the therapy unit. Her passion for children carries over into sports as she leads Puyallup's unified cheer and softball team. Aside from coaching unified teams, Madison participates in cheerleading and is the captain of her gymnastics team. Her father says, "Gymnastics has taught Madison that through hard work and dedication, she can overcome any challenge presented to her."
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2019 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
