The Seahawks signed rookie tackle Michael Jerrell on Friday, making the sixth-round pick out of the University of Findlay the eighth and final member of the 2024 draft class to sign his rookie deal.
Jerrell, the G-MAC Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2023, started 40 straight games to finish out his career at Findlay, and comes to Seattle with what general manager and president of football operations John Schneider called "amazing upside."
Primarily a basketball player in high school, Jerrell was a starter for only one year in high school, leading to him landing at Division-II Findlay. But at 6-foot-5, 294 pounds, Jerrell brings considerable athletic upside, and impressed as a participant at Ohio State's pro day.
"He went to the Ohio State workout, had a great workout," Schneider said after the draft. "He's a monster of a dude and we brought him in. He had a great visit, great visit with the staff, treated everybody in the building with a lot of respect and he just has a really nice upside and he did what he's supposed to do. He dominated at a level he's supposed to dominate in at Findlay and, yeah, length, size, he's a former basketball player that's re-worked his body and he's still on the come so it's a really fun shot at an amazing upside."
The Seahawks invited girls flag football players to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center for a photoshoot on Monday, May 13, 2024.
