RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks announced today that Safeway will expand its long-standing partnership with the club to include entitlement of the team's Community Engagement programming.
"The Seahawks and Safeway both have a deep-rooted commitment to serving our community and helping those who need it most," said Mario Bailey, Seahawks Vice President of Community Engagement & Legends. "Safeway has been an incredible partner to the Seahawks for many years, so we are excited to come together with them in this new capacity as we strive to make an even greater impact on our region moving forward."
As the Seahawks' community engagement entitlement sponsor, Safeway will partner with the team on various activities throughout the year, including player and Legend appearances and joint fundraising efforts to benefit local non-profit organizations. A Safeway patch will also be worn on the Seahawks' community jerseys worn by players and Legends at events. Additionally, Safeway will serve as the presenting partner of the team's new Seahawks Community Awards launching this season.
To celebrate their new community partnership, Safeway employees volunteered alongside Seahawks staff today at the team's annual employee day of service. Later this summer, the Seahawks and Safeway, in partnership with KING 5, will host a food drive at the annual Seahawks Football Fest on August 3 to benefit Northwest Harvest.
"One of the aspects we've cherished most about our partnership with the Seahawks is the ability to bring joy and support to all the communities we serve in Washington through our collaborations," said Sara Osborne, Public and Government Affairs Director for Safeway. "We look forward to taking this work to another level with this formalized partnership, as we work to leverage our tremendous customer and fan engagement to create opportunities of community empowerment and celebration throughout the state."
