RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks and Delta Air Lines, the Official Airline Partner of the team, today announced the launch of a new community-focused program – "Delta Community Captains." The program is designed to recognize local individuals or organizations in the greater Seattle area that are making a difference in the community by naming them as honorary team captains.

The Seahawks and Delta will name three Delta Community Captains per quarter in four categories that align with shared company values: education (July-September), military (October-December), equity/social justice (January-March), and the environment (April-June).

"With a shared commitment to serving our community, we are thrilled to come together with our partners at Delta Air Lines to name honorary captains who are all making a strong impact in our community," said Amy Sprangers, Chief Revenue Officer, Seattle Seahawks. "We celebrate those who are champions both on and off the field and it is our hope that the amazing work of our Community Captains will inspire and encourage others to do the same."

"We are excited to be partnering with the Seattle Seahawks to recognize young members of the community who are already going above and beyond to make a positive impact, helping to build empathy and understanding through their actions," said Tony Gonchar, Delta Air Lines' Vice President – Seattle. "As a company powered by superior service and connection, we know the value that these actions have, not just in this moment, but for years to come."

The first Delta Community Captain is Mireille Ignacio, an incoming fourth grader at Camelot Elementary in Federal Way, Wash. Mireille was recognized for her dedication to education. She was the top reader in the Seahawks Summer Reading Program, where she read 3,600 minutes in June. As part of honor, Mireille attended Seahawks Training Camp practice at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center on August 19, where she was surprised with the news and gifted an exclusive Community Captain football with her name on it, as well as a Seahawks jersey and Delta prize pack. Each captain will be gifted with exclusive Delta Community Captain prize packs and be featured on Seahawks.com.

The Delta Community Captain program will also include participation from Delta pilots in the quarterly events as well as offer employees from both the Seahawks and Delta's Seattle-based team the opportunity to volunteer together alongside Community Captain organizations. Delta always strives to be an active member of the communities where it lives, works and serves. This program serves to spotlight members of the Seattle community who are also driving toward those same goals.
