The Future At Running Back, Pete Carroll's Gum, Mannequin Challenge And More In This Week's Seahawks Twitter Q&A

You had Seahawks questions, we have answers.

As if Sunday's victory over the New England Patriots wasn't exciting enough, now it's time for another Seahawks Q&A… OK, that's a little bit of a reach. But yes, it is time once again to answer questions from you, the fans. As always, thanks for everyone who took the time to ask a question this week, and apologies if I wasn't able to get to yours this time around.

@Noy3s asks, "Has C.J. Prosise emerged as the premier running back, or too soon to tell?" @soccer15matt2k asks, "Will Thomas Rawls be getting a big workload in his first game back?" And @lallen16 also asks about the distribution of running back carries this week.

A: Rookie running back C.J. Prosise was outstanding in his first career start, accounting for 153 yards of total offense, but with Thomas Rawls coming back, Christine Michael being waived, and Troymaine Pope joining the active roster, it will be interesting to see how things play out at running back going forward. This is just my opinion, but based off of the way Seahawks coach Pete Carroll talked about being careful with Rawls as he works his way back from a seven-game absence, I'd guess that Prosise will still have a big role this weekend against Philadelphia as Rawls works his way back up to speed. Rawls showed he can be a lead back last season, and it seems likely he will work his way back into that role eventually if he's able to get back to the level he played at in 2015 when he led the NFL in rushing yards-per-carry. But even if Rawls takes back the starting job at some point, expect Prosise to be a significant part of the offense going forward.

Carroll mentioned Monday that he was excited about the "real nice matchup" those two could create with their different skillsets, and the Seahawks won't hesitate to use both players a lot in order to get the most out of their offense and their running game.

@UnintendedMax asks, "Is Doug Baldwin the most underrated NFL receiver of all time?"

*A: *Of all time? I can't begin to give a good answer to that. I'm sure there have been plenty of great but underappreciated receivers throughout NFL history that I'm not aware of—hence them being underrated—but I do think it's safe to say Doug Baldwin is underrated for his era of receivers. The biggest thing Baldwin or any Seahawks receiver has had going against them in recent years is that the Seahawks haven't thrown the ball a lot, which makes it harder to pile up big numbers. But when it comes to efficiency, few if any receivers have been better than Baldwin. As noted on the NBC broadcast of Sunday's game, Russell Wilson has a 133.4 passer rating when targeting Baldwin since the start of the 2015 season, and last year Baldwin tied for the NFL lead with 14 touchdowns despite significantly fewer targets than most top receivers. Baldwin deserved to be Pro Bowler for his outstanding 2015 season, and if he keeps playing at a high level this year, maybe he will make the Pro Bowl and shed that "underrated" label.

Both @HolliWinters and @eatreadsee want to know if the Seahawks will be doing a mannequin challenge.

A: For those of you who aren't young and hip—I'm definitely including myself in the not-young-and-hip demographic—the mannequin challenge is the latest social media fad (or at least the latest I'm aware of, which means it's almost certainly not the latest social media fad) in which a group of people all hold still like mannequins while one person walks around filming the scene. I'm not aware of any plans for the Seahawks to do one of these in the near future, but you may have seen defensive end Damontre Moore do his own one-man mannequin challenge to celebrate the half sack he shared with Jarran Reed during Sunday's game against the Patriots.

@Holli_Alexa asks, "How many pieces of gum does Coach Carroll go through in one game?"

A: It's no secret that Pete Carroll likes to chomp on gum during games, Bubble Yum, to be specific. But Holli poses an interesting question: just how much gum does the Seahawks coach go through in one game? To get an answer, I checked in with Ben Malcolmson, the special assistant to the head coach/director of external relations. Malcolmson estimated that on average, it's probably 15 pieces of gum, plus or minus five. So over the course of an entire season, the official total would be… a whole lot of gum.

@OmarSidd asks, "If the Sonics had to draft from the Seahawks roster, who would be the starting 5?"

A: First off, when we someday get the Sonics back, I really hope they don't have to fill their roster with NFL players. That probably wouldn't work out too well. But this is a fun hypothetical, so I'll play along. Two of the five are really easy picks, because the Seahawks have a pair of former college basketball players on their roster in George Fant and Jimmy Graham. Beyond that, it's a tough choice, because if you ask most Seahawks who the best basketball player on the team is, they'll say it's themselves. Russell Wilson wants to help bring the Sonics back, but I'm not sure if he wants to play or not, so for now we'll leave him out of the lineup and let him have courtside seats instead. Tyler Lockett recently won a shooting contest with teammates (he didn't do as well when a certain NBA player joined the competition), so he can be in the back court of this team. I'll also go with Bobby Wagner, who claims to be a pretty solid basketball player, and who has shown plenty of leaping ability on the football field. And we'll give Richard Sherman the last spot in the starting five so we have some length that can play defense on the perimeter.

@eanorlin asks, "What is your favorite thanksgiving dish?"

A:Well when I was a little kid, it was olives, but not so much because I liked eating them, but because it's fun to stick them on the ends of your fingers. But for actual eating, I'd have to go with the turkey itself so long as it's cooked right and not dry. Mashed potatoes are a solid choice too, and the cranberry sauce, and… well, lots of stuff is good on Thanksgiving. That's kind of the point, right?

@mooseheadbond and legume_duprix ask if George Fant will remain the starter at left tackle when Bradley Sowell comes back.

A:Both Carroll and offensive line coach Tom Cable have left open the possibility of Fant keeping the starting job, which he took over when Sowell went down with a knee injury last month. But before that decision can be made, the Seahawks want to give Sowell a chance to be fully healthy to compete for the job. Sowell practiced last week and Carroll said he's close to being game ready, so we should get some answers soon. And don't forget that Sowell played right tackle as well in training camp, so in an "always compete" world, you can't rule anything out at either tackle position.

Seattle PI reporter/former ska band member @scohenPI asks how the mustache is coming along.

A: If you missed it last week, I'm growing a mustache for Movember. Yes, it's kind of gross, but it's also for a good cause. So if you want to see it, there's a picture here. You should also donate while you're at it, Stephen, it's the right thing to do.
