Thursday Round-Up: Gil Brandt's 2017 All-Rookie Team Includes Seahawks Offensive Lineman Ethan Pocic

Seahawks offensive lineman Ethan Pocic earns a spot on NFL.com's All-Rookie team as chosen by senior analyst Gil Brandt.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Thursday, January 25 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

NFL.com's 2017 All-Rookie Team

Gil Brandt, the former vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys who now works as a senior analyst at NFL.com, released an all-rookie all-star team on the League website today and the best of the rookie-best list features one Seahawks draft pick.

Ethan Pocic, who Seattle selected in the second round (No. 58 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of LSU, is one of two offensive guards to earn a spot on Brandt's position-by-position breakdown. This past season, Pocic primarily saw action on special teams to start the year, but was inserted into the starting lineup after the Seahawks' bye week with Luke Joeckel having undergone surgery. Pocic started Seattle's final 11 games of the season and proved to be a versatile player as he saw snaps at both right and left guard. He was also listed as the Seahawks' backup center behind Justin Britt.

On Pocic, Brandt writes, "While he might never climb to the level of a Pro Bowler, Pocic -- who allowed two sacks -- projects as a long-time starter after playing reasonably well in his first pro season. He's a versatile lineman who can play guard or tackle."

Last week, the Professional Football Writers of America also recognized Pocic for his play during his rookie season.
