Tuesday Round-Up: Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner Make NFL.com's Award Races

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner are getting national attention for their play this season.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's out there for today — Tuesday, December 5 — about your Seattle Seahawks:

Week 13 NFL Award Races

With a quarter of the 2017 regular season left, Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com took a look at a few award categories around the league and made his picks following Week 13.

Of the five areas Rosenthal looked at (Defensive Player of the Year, MVP, Coach of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year), two Seahawks players received consideration in Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner.

Following his three-touchdown performance against Philadelphia, Rosenthal put Wilson in his MVP conversation behind Tom Brady and Carson Wentz:

*Wilson's receiving options are the best of his career, and he's developed incredible chemistry with them during off-schedule plays. He still ranks third here because of his slow start and the amount of negative plays compared to the two quarterbacks above. Wilson's case will get a lot more compelling if the Seahawks keep winning. *

Wagner was listed behind Aaron Donald and Cameron Jordan for Defensive Player of the Year honors:

*Wagner should get extra points for taking over as the Seahawks' defensive leader with the team so short-handed in the back end following injuries to Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor. For this season, Wagner passed Luke Kuechly as the preeminent middle linebacker in football with his incredible pursuit, coverage ability and blitz skills. *
