Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Tuesday, January 16— about your Seattle Seahawks.

Rick Gosselin reveals his annual special teams rankings for the 2023 season, with the Seahawks earning a Top-10 spot.

The Seahawks finished the 2023 season with a 9-8 record, and while they fell short of a postseason berth, they once again got strong play out of their special teams units, led by coordinator Larry Izzo. In his annual special teams rankings, writer Rick Gosselin broke down why the Seahawks unit continues to stand out, ranking No. 6 overall league-wide.

In 2021, Izzo took over as Seattle's special teams coordinator, after spending 2018-2020 as an assistant. The Rice University alum spent 14 seasons as a linebacker and special teams ace, winning three Super Bowl championships (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX) with the New England Patriots in the 2000's. Now as Seattle's special teams leader, Izzo's unit earns a top-10 spot for the fourth-consecutive season on Gosselin's list. Twenty-two kicking-game categories help makeup the criteria for Gosselin's point system, from kickoff return yardage, to blocked field goal attempts to punt yardage. With 300 points, Seattle lands at sixth amongst their 31 league counterparts, shining in a variety of individual and team categories.

Safety Julian Love made the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2023, after recording a career-high four interceptions, along with 103 tackles and 10 passes defensed. But, the fifth-year Notre Dame alum was also a standout on special teams, tying for first place league-wide with 13 special teams tackles. Punter Michael Dickson ranked fifth league-wide in yards per punt (50.0), a new career-high in Year 6. Kicker Jason Myers notched a new career-high of field goals made, converting 35-42 attempts (83.3%) for 138 points.
