12 Numbers Of Note From The Seahawks' Week 5 Loss In New Orleans

Twelve numbers that help tell the story of Sunday’s loss to the Saints.

non week 5

The Seahawks dropped a close game in New Orleans Sunday, falling 39-32 in another game that featured a great performance from Geno Smith and the offense, but that also saw an opponent put up big numbers and score on big plays.

In addition to that final score, here are 12 numbers that help tell the story of Sunday's game in New Orleans:

2

Gains of 50 or more yards for the Saints that led to touchdowns—a 60-yard TD run and a 54-yard screen pass that set up a score—highlighting one of the issues Seattle is struggling with on defense. The Seahawks also gave up two 50-plus yard plays against Detroit, an 81-yard reception that set up a touchdown and a 51-yard touchdown run.

2

100-yard rushers for the Saints, Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill. That's the first time in franchise history the Seahawks have allowed multiple 100-yard rushers in one game. The Seahawks have had two players rush for 100 yards in a game six times, most recently Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson in 2014.

84

Points allowed by Seattle in the last two weeks, the most allowed in consecutive games during the Pete Carroll/John Schneider era.

80

Points scored by the Seahawks in the past two games, not nearly as rare of an occurrence as the points allowed. The Seahawks last scored at least that many points in consecutive games in Week 17 and 18 last year when they totaled 89 points in wins over Detroit and Arizona.

139.7

Geno Smith's passer rating, his best yet this season, raising his season rating to a league-best 113.2. Smith also leads the league in completion percentage at 75.2, ranks fourth in ESPN's QBR ranking, and is the league's top-rated quarterback by Pro Football Focus.

1

Seattle's offensive ranking through five weeks according to Football Outsiders' DVOA rankings.

35 and 40

Length of Tyler Lockett's two touchdown receptions, continuing his career-long trend of being an elite big-play threat. Dating back to his rookie season in 2015, Lockett has scored 21 touchdowns of 35 or more yards—17 receptions, one run, one punt return and two kickoff returns.

50

Length of DK Metcalf's touchdown reception, giving him a catch of at least 50 yards in each of his three games against New Orleans, including an 84-yard touchdown last season.

3

Opening drive touchdowns in five games for the Seahawks after Metcalf's opening-drive TD Sunday. The Seahawks have scored on four of five opening drives.

4

Turnovers caused by Seahawks rookie cornerbacks in the past two games, with Tariq Woolen recording an interception in each game, and Coby Bryant forcing a fumble in each.

3

Consecutive games with an interception for Woolen.

69

Length of Kenneth Walker III's first career touchdown run.
