We're now nearly two weeks into NFL free agency, and the Seahawks, like every NFL team, have seen their roster change some, both in terms of players added and in players who have signed elsewhere. With that in mind, here are five numbers of note from Seahawks free agency so far.

9

Tackles for loss, including 4.0 sacks, for Leonard Williams in his 10 games with the Seahawks following the midseason trade that sent him from the Giants to Seattle. While plenty of attention will be focused on the newcomers Seattle acquired in free agency, the biggest move over the past two weeks may very well have been the team's ability to re-sign Williams to a multi-year deal.

18

Career starts, including all 17 games last season, made by newly acquired quarterback Sam Howell, who is still only 23 years old, making him the same age as or younger than many of the top quarterback prospects in this year's draft. Geno Smith is still the team's starter, but by trading for Howell, the Seahawks added a young quarterback who has a lot of upside and also considerable NFL experience.

2

New starting linebackers who will be playing for the Seahawks in 2024 after Jordyn Brooks (Miami) and Bobby Wagner (Washington) both signed with other teams. While the Seahawks very well could still add to that position group in the draft or free agency, the most likely candidates as of now to step into those spots are Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker, who were both signed as free agents.

Dodson, who started 10 games for the Bills last season, was Pro Football Focus' highest-graded linebacker in 2023, albeit with significantly fewer snaps than some of the top every-down players, and he recorded career-highs with 74 tackles, 2.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. Baker, who has spent his entire six-year career in Miami, has 82 career starts, and has 100 or more tackles in three of the past five seasons.

190 and 15

Combined tackles and passes defensed in 2023 made by new safeties Rayshawn Jenkins and K'Von Wallace, who both could have big roles at safety, along with Julian Love, following the release of Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams earlier this month. Jenkins, who had 101 tackles, nine passes defensed and two interceptions last season, put up even bigger numbers a year earlier with 116 tackles, three interceptions and 12 passes defensed. Wallace, meanwhile, had the best season of his four-year career in 2023, starting 12 of 17 games while making 89 tackles with six passes defensed.

9.0

Career yards-per-catch average (on one career catch) for tackle George Fant, who was signed last week. OK, OK, so that's not the most important number regarding Fant, but it got your attention, didn't it? The more significant number when it comes to Fant is his 73 career starts at both right and left tackles, including 13 for the Texans last season. Fant, a former college basketball standout who began his career with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, gives Seattle a versatile and experienced veteran to add to the mix on the offensive line.

Fant is one of three offensive linemen signed by Seattle so far in free agency along with center Nick Harris, who will compete with Olu Oluwatimi and any other possible additions for the starting job, and guard Tremayne Anchrum Jr., who will compete at guard.
