With the holidays quickly approaching, Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall spent his bye week in his hometown of Gulfport, Mississippi giving back to the community that has "done so much" for him growing up.

Hall and his foundation, the Derick Hall One Percent Foundation, hosted the 3rd annual Thanksgiving food drive and served 360 families and gave out more than 400 turkeys.

"I think the biggest thing is just, that town and community has done so much for me growing up," Hall said on going back home for the food drive. "My mom is a social service coordinating director in the Salvation Army, so growing up, we were able to see a lot of things that people went through with food insecurities and people coming to ask for food baskets. It's always been a big part of my family, so I think the biggest thing is just being able to have the opportunity to do that and being able to use what God has gifted me with to give back to my community."

This year was a little more special because Hall was able to attend the event for the first time.

"This year is the third [turkey drive], but it's the first year I've been able to be there. It was pretty cool just seeing people coming through the line of how thankful they were to be able to have a meal to cook for their family on Thanksgiving. And just being able to be there interacting with people, taking pictures, laugh, and really just seeing my community supporting me, but also being able to give support back to others."

And while his community is important, the hope is to be able to start putting on events in the Seattle area too.

"That's a possibility that we're working towards with the foundation," Hall said. "It's been ongoing for about two years, but this year is really the first year where we started to climb and get off the ground. So, we'll be working towards doing something here and there in the near future."

Seahawks tight end Pharaoh Brown and his foundation, the Pharaoh Brown Dream Big Foundation, passed out Turkeys to the local Seattle community in his inaugural holiday event at a local food bank on Monday, November 25, 2024. Pharaoh's Dream Big Foundation partnered with The Food Bank at St. Mary's in Seattle, Wash. to give away turkeys to over 300 local families just in time for the holiday season.
