In Week 2, Geno Smith was nominated for his first Air Player of the Week of the 2024 season. Smith threw for 327 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown to DK Metcalf and had a 103.1 passer rating. In the Seahawks win – which included going into overtime, was Smith's ninth in the fourth quarter or overtime since the start of the 2022 season.
"Put the ball in 7's hands, that's my mindset," Smith said. "I always dreamed about these moments growing up. It's a dream come true just to be here," Smith said.
Head coach Mike Macdonald applauded Smith's performance.
"I thought Geno played a dynamite game…I thought he was decisive. The ball was out fast. I thought we had a great plan."
