The Seahawks signed Connor Williams on Sunday and on Monday Williams had his first full day at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

His initial thoughts about the team were about the people in the building. "They're all awesome people. I mean the building's made up of a lot of great people and so that's been the most standout part and the guys seem like a great room of guys, hard workers from practice today, so just excited to get in there and get working with everyone and for Seattle, I mean for August weather, this isn't bad, so this work."

Before signing with a team Williams said he waited because he wanted to make sure he was in a good place health wise.

"Just take a long approach with the wife and just take a steady approach with it," Williams said.

And as for why he chose Seattle, "I always like building," Williams said. "So, building with a new team, a whole new program and how they pursued me and handled everything, for me it made a great mutual fit."

Head coach Mike Macdonald said signing Williams was, "An opportunity to get a great football player on our football team."

Williams spent the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, who the Seahawks will play at Lumen Field in Week 3 and suffered a torn ACL in December. Macdonald said the goal is to have Williams ready to go for Week 1 vs. the Broncos.

And if you didn't watch any Dolphins football in the last two seasons, Williams said "I try to pride myself on being aggressive, fast physical player and I think this is a great place to do that."

It might be a week or so before fans get to see Williams practice but he said he's, "Attacking it one day at a time right now and trying to get back to full."

"We have a pretty good plan in place now," Macdonald said on getting Williams practicing. "He'll be with the sports performance folks for the next week or so, until we can get him full speed for practice, but we're shooting for either Cleveland week or the week after to get him out here and practicing."

"I feel great," Williams said. "I'm probably about 95 percent. I'm getting there. Strength's getting there. Pretty symmetrical honestly, and so I think we're just devising a plan to slowly work back in and slowly give me on the field."

Even though Williams is coming off of injury, Macdonald and the coaching staff feel confident in Williams and the progress he's made so far.

Adding, "I'm excited to see Connor [Williams] come out here and do his thing. Haven't seen him live yet with us and I think, we have a great plan with him and we'll see where he is at in a week or so."

It's not known yet if Williams will make the trip with the team to Nashville for joint practices and the Week 2 preseason game.

"I think we're working through that right now," Macdonald said on Williams traveling. "But we'll know tomorrow."

The Seahawks returned to practice on August 12, 2024 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center after winning their preseason week 1 road matchup against the L.A. Chargers.
