The Seahawks will kick off their first training camp under head coach Mike Macdonald on Wednesday, another important step as Macdonald and his coaching staff continue to get the team ready for the 2024 season.
Already, the Seahawks put together an offseason workout program that has Macdonald excited about what they are building together.
"I'm really excited about where we're at. I told the guys, we haven't stopped anybody yet, we haven't scored any touchdowns yet, nor should we; it's not the time for that," Macdonald said during minicamp. "But I feel really good on the foundation we've been able to build.
"We got a lot of great people that are working in this building. It's not just me. We got a lot of talent, a lot of great people that want to help the team. If we deploy all those people the way that we want, I think we can create something really special."
Now, following some well-deserved time off, players and coaches are returning to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center ready to start camp and take the next step in their preparation for the upcoming season. And while the Seahawks just missed the playoffs after going 9-8 last season, there are plenty of reasons for optimism heading into this season, ranging from the excitement around Macdonald’s defensive scheme, which helped the Ravens have the league's best defense last year; to a pair of second-year players who look poised for big second seasons in cornerback Devon Witherspoon and receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba; to a Pro-Bowl quarterback, Geno Smith, who is coming into his third season as Seattle’s starter feeling like he is “still getting better,” and who will take the reins of an exciting offense led by offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and featuring several talented weapons such as DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Smith-Njigba, Noah Fant, Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.
Of course, it's one thing to read about Seahawks training camp and why you should be excited, it's another thing all together to actually experience it in person and witness the action up close, so sign up to attend below.
