Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf recorded his best game of the year in Seattle's 41-35 Thursday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys. In the midst of his three-touchdown performance, Metcalf became the NFLās fastest ball carrier this season, reaching 22.23 mph.
In Week 5, Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill recorded a top speed of 22.01mph in a win over the New York Giants. Early in the first quarter of Thursday's game, quarterback Geno Smith connected with Metcalf on third down, with the Ole Miss alum taking the ball 73 yards for the first touchdown of the contest. Per Next Gen Stats, Metcalf recorded the fastest speed league-wide since running back Raheem Mostert topped 23 MPH in Week 2 of the 2020 season.
Earlier this year, Metcalf made an appearance on analyst Colin Cowherdās The Herd, where he confidently chose himself when asked who was the league's fastest player.
"Yes, I am," said Metcalf. "On the record, I am."
After Thursday's game, Metcalf has plenty of footage of his blazing 73-yard score, and the analytic proof, to back his claim.
