Seahawks Next Gen Stat Of The Week: Kenneth Walker III Turns On The Jets

Taking a look at Kenneth Walker III’s big game with NFL Next Gen Stats.

Next Gen Stats - Week 4

Kenneth Walker III was back on the field following a two-game absence due to an oblique injury, and the Seahawks running back wasted little time reminding everyone of how explosive he can be with the ball in his hands.

In addition to pulling off one of the more improbable plays you'll ever see on a football field following a short catch, Walker also found the end zone three times, and rushed for 80 yards on just 12 carries, giving him an average of 6.7 yards per carry.

Walker's speed was evident on several plays, including two long runs on which he exceeded 20 miles per hour. Walker hit 20.86 MPH on a 28-yard run, according to NFL Next Gen Stats, making him the sixth-fastest ballcarrier in Week 4, and he also hit 20.33 MPH on his 21-yard touchdown run.

With those two runs, Walker was one of only two players league wide to exceed 20 miles per hour on a pair of runs along with Jacksonville running back Tank Bigsby.

Next Gen Stats also points out that Walker was most effective when Geno Smith was lined up under center, gaining 55 yards on six carries on those runs, including two touchdowns.

Must-see shots of the Seahawks at their Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Monday, September 30, 2024.
