20240920round-up

Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's going on out there and any news you might have missed, about your Seattle Seahawks this week.

"Two of the players who helped lead the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title are eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025, with running back Marshawn Lynch and safety Earl Thomas both among the 16 first-year eligible nominees for next year's class.

Other Seahawks Legends among the 167 modern-era nominees are Ring of Honor member Shaun Alexander, safety Kam Chancellor, running back Chris Warren, running back Ricky Watters, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, LB Julian Peterson, S Eugene Robinson, P Jeff Feagles, receiver Brandon Marshall and kicker John Kasay. Also nominated is former 49ers and Cowboys linebacker Ken Norton Jr., who was the Seahawks' linebackers coach from 2010-2014 and defensive coordinator from 2018-2021."

Seahawks.com senior reporter John Boyle breaks down the five things to watch in this week's matchup. Number four on his list is "Coming off an outstanding Week 2 performance, what does Geno Smith do this week against a familiar defense?"

"Geno Smith's first pass attempt of the season was intercepted, the result of him being hit as he threw, but Seattle's quarterback has been nearly flawless since that opening drive turnover. And Smith was particularly good last weekend, even by the high standard he has set over the past two Pro-Bowl seasons, completing 33 of 44 attempts for 327 yards and a touchdown on a day when the Seahawks rushed for just 46 yards. Most importantly, Smith came through with the game on the line, not once but twice, leading a game-tying drive at the end of regulation and a game-winning drive in overtime.

To Smith's teammates, that performance was just the latest example of why people need to be putting more respect on their quarterback's name.

"Y'all been calling this man underrated for three years, and when is it going to stop?" DK Metcalf said. "But, he's not underrated by any means. He's an NFL quarterback, just like 31 other NFL quarterbacks. I don't think the underrated title should be used anymore. He's very successful in what he does. He's led us to one playoff appearance and should have been in the playoffs last year. But, we just got to play better as a team, do better for him on offense. But, his preparation, his approach to the game has always been the same."

Coach Dennis led the LCA Eagles to an amazing last second win on a defended tipped pass to break up the opposing team touchdown and secure the 35-28 win against a tough Napavine team!

Coach Kizer led the Skyview Storm to an incredible comeback win against powerhouse Graham-Kapowsin. The Storm erased a 17 point deficit in the 4th quarter to take down the Eagles and move to 2-0!

Hawks Huddle Business of the Week

The Hawks Huddle business of the week is Bell's Cookie Co.

"I am from Seattle - the Seahawks have always been around and a part of its community and culture," said owner Brooke Perez. "To be able to partner with them is an honor for the company. The Seahawks bring people joy which goes hand-in-hand with our cookies."

The Sound of the Seahawks: S3 Ep.4

You can't write back when you're busy putting in the work: a sentiment that the Seahawks prove as they start the regular season 2-0. Geno Smith reflects on the evolution of his 10-year NFL career, from building consistency to becoming a veteran in the locker room. The "pure power" that is Derick Hall shows off his truck fleet which is (no surprise) built the same. And the team credits big plays by our defense that helped shut down New England in overtime. With great leadership at the forefront of the team, the Seahawks approach Week 3 for a home game against the Dolphins.
