The Seahawks host the 49ers on Thursday night, meaning there's not much time to dwell on Sunday's loss to the Giants. There's also not a lot of time for players dealing with injuries to bounce back, and on Monday Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu will miss Thursday's game.
Nwosu missed the first four games of the season due to a knee injury before returning on Sunday, but he exited the game with a second-quarter thigh injury that will have him out for at least this week.
"We won't get him back Thursday, then we'll see here in the next few days if it's going to be longer than that," Macdonald said.
Two other players, cornerback Riq Woolen (ankle) and outside linebacker Derick Hall (foot) also exited the game with injuries, but their status is not yet clear.
"Riq has an ankle, and I think I'll have some news for you—by the time we play it'll become a little more clear," Macdonald said. "I'm not sure right now. D-Hall, it's kind of the same area with his foot."
Outside linebacker Boye Mafe, who missed the past two games with a knee, is trying to make it back but it isn't yet known if that will happen this week.
"Boye wants to play, he's working his tail off," Macdonald said. "It's a matter of if we can pull the trigger or not at this point if it's safe for him to go and he feels right. We'll see, it's going to come down to the wire right now with Boye."
Defensive end Leonard Williams, who returned to action Sunday after missing the previous game with a rib injury, seems to have come out of the game fine.
"To my knowledge, Leonard is good," Macdonald said.
Rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, meanwhile, could end up missing a third straight game with a hamstring injury.
"Byron, we're still not sure on the timetable," Macdonald said. "It looks like it might take one more week."
Macdonald also said that he is not anticipating that tackle Abraham Lucas and safety Jerrick Reed II, the two players still on the physical unable to perform list, will make it back to practice this week.
