Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Wednesday, February 21— about your Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle running back Kenneth Walker III earns the sixth spot on Pro Football Focus' 2023 running backs grading scale.
In 2022, Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III joined Legend Curt Warner as the only rushers in franchise history to gain 1,000 yards as rookies on the ground. After nearly repeating his production in his sophomore campaign, Pro Football Focus ranks Walker as the sixth-highest graded running back league-wide for 2023.
The Seahawks selected Walker in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Michigan State, and he went on to make the the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team and finish second in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting after rushing for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns on 228 carries (4.6 YPC). The versatile back was a receiving threat out of the backfield as well, catching 27 passes for 165 yards (6.1 YPR).
Across 15 games played in 2023, Walker rushed for 905 yards and eight touchdowns, falling just short of a second straight 1,000-yard season. But on the receiving end, the Arlington, Tennessee native became an even bigger threat in Year 2. Surpassing his rookie totals, Walker caught 29 passes for 259 yards and his first career receiving score.
PFF's Gordon McGuinness wraps up the 2023 season by breaking down the top performers at each position. Despite a slight step back in overall production on the ground, McGuinness breaks down why Walker's elusiveness and ability to force missed tackles made him one of the league's premiere backs.
6. KENNETH WALKER III, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: 83.5
Walker's overall rushing numbers aren't too impressive — a 4.1 yards per carry average and 900 rushing yards — but he boosted his PFF grade by being difficult to bring down. His 56 missed tackles forced on rushing attempts in 2023 were tied for the fifth most among running backs.
