• As Washington's full-time starter in his second season in 2023, Howell threw the ball a league-leading 612 times and completed 388 (T4th NFL, second-most in a single season in Washington history), good for 3,946 yards with 21 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. His passing yardage ranked sixth in a single-season in Commanders history and his five rushing touchdowns rank second in a single-season for the club (Robert Griffin III, 7). His five 300-yard passing games tied for third in the NFL, including a career-high 397 yard performance vs. Philadelphia.
COLLEGE: Played collegiately at North Carolina where he started 12 games and had 217 completions for 3,056 yards, 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his junior year in 2021. He added 183 carries for 828 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. In his sophomore season, he started 12 games recording 237 completions for 3,587 yards, 30 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
PERSONAL: Attended Sun Valley High School in North Carolina and was a consensus four-star prospect who was ranked the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina, the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the country, and the No. 87 overall player nationally by the 247Sports. Lists golfing as one of his hobbies. Has collaborated with TABLE Inc. for his My Cause My Cleats NFL initiative. TABLE delivers healthy food and nutrition education to children in Orange County, North Carolina. Howell has worked with the organization since his college days at UNC inspiring the design of the cleats to match the colorway of the Tar Heels.
