DETROIT—The Seahawks came into Monday night's game against the Lions missing several key players on defense, then they also lost Pro Bowl safety Julian Love to a thigh injury that kept him out the entire second half.

The severity of that injury is not yet known, but Macdonald called it a quad contusion.

"He's got a quad contusion," Macdonald said. "I don't really know what that means. We'll see, but he wasn't able to finish, obviously."

As for the players who were ruled out before the game, outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee) and Boye Mafe (knee) and defensive linemen Byron Murphy II (hamstring) and Leonard Williams (ribs), Macdonald said he doesn't yet know on the status of those players for next week's game against the Giants.

"I don't know," he said. "It's a function of how fast they can improve, and they're doing everything that they can to do so, and we'll see as the week progresses here."

The Seahawks were also without starting linebacker Jerome Baker, who was listed as questionable for the game due to a hamstring injury that kept him out of last week's game as well.

"We tried, it just became clear that as the game kind of got closer, it was like, 'ah, he's probably not going to be able to go,'" Macdonald said.

Additionally, quarterback Geno Smith, who was slow to get up after taking a hard hit late in the fourth quarter, said he was OK after that hit, which drew a flag for roughing the passer.

"Yeah, I'll be fine, getting ready for next week," he said.
