The Seahawks activated safety Jerrick Reed II from the physically unable to perform list Saturday, clearing the way for him to make his 2024 debut when Seattle hosts the Bills on Sunday.
Additionally, cornerbacks Josh Jobe and Faion Hicks were elevated from the practice squad for the second straight week.
Reed, a 2023 sixth-round pick out of New Mexico, emerged as one of Seattle's top special teams players as rookie, recording nine special teams tackles in 10 games before tearing his ACL. He gives the Seahawks safety depth with Rayshawn Jenkins still on injured reserve, and should provide an immediate boost on special teams.
Jobe and Hicks add cornerback depth with both Tre Brown and Nehemiah Pritchett listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Jobe, who signed with the Seahawks just before the start of the regular season, started last week's game with Brown and Riq Woolen both sidelined, and recorded six tackles and two passes defensed. Before joining the Seahawks Jobe spent the last two seasons with the Eagles after going undrafted out of Alabama in 2022. He has appeared in 28 games, including all 17 last season, starting three.
"It was cool to see, right?" defensive coordinator Aden Durde said of Jobe's Seahawks debut. "They're the kind of things you love about coaching. When you see someone, an opportunity arises, and they just grab it. You play with great technique, and poise, super proud of him as well and he had a great practice today."
Hicks, who also signed with the Seahawks in late August, was a 2022 seventh-round pick out of Wisconsin. He played nine snaps on special teams and seven on defense last week, recording one tackle. Hicks previously spent time with the Broncos, Saints and Browns over the past two seasons, appearing in two games for the Broncos as a rookie.
The Seahawks participated in a practice on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in preparation for the team's upcoming Week 8 matchup vs. the Buffalo Bills.
