On Monday morning Gipson was at the Jaguars facility in Jacksonville getting ready to head to breakfast and by Tuesday he was part of the Seahawks initial 53-man roster.

"I think at this point in my life and my career, there's no going back," Gipson said on receiving the trade news. "I don't have time to mope or be sad or be frustrated about the decisions that come into my life. It's just getting back up, fighting again and keep on fighting. Who would I be if I gave up?"

"You got to roll with the punches. I think my my outlook on life is 'What would life be if it was all candy and nuts?' So you look for the positive and the negative and not saying this is negative, but it's a change and I'm looking forward to it."

Gipson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars during free agency in March, after having been with the Titans the season prior and started off the first three seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears. During his career he's played in 48 games, starting 19 of those with 11 sacks, 21 quarterback hits and 11 tackles for loss.

For fans who haven't watched Gipson play, he would describe his game as, "Twitchy, aggressive, fast, relentless, back against the wall. I leave it all out there on the field, every play."

While Gipson was with the Chicago Bears, in the 2021 season, he showed how fast and aggressive he could be, finishing the year with seven sacks and five forced fumbles, while only starting in nine games that season. He knows that he can get back to that level of play again. Gipson said that he wants to get his career back on track and to him that means getting to the quarterback more.

"That looks like getting a double-digit sack season. I know I'm capable of it. I got the seven and five forced fumbles on playing half of the year. I'm not going to let anybody put a ceiling on me. The sky's the limit, I believe."

Also adding it takes hard work to get to that point. "There's no cutting edges in this league. There's no cutting edges of life. I think we all know that. So I can't expect to just be on the field third down without putting any work in on first and second. So I take pride in that part of my game when it comes to pass rush, man, I think that's where it's relentless effort putting my ears back. Chasing everything I ever dreamed of. Honestly, it's not too much pressure on myself. It's playing free, not being stressed or tensed up. I think that's when I get the best results from myself."

After a day of practice with the Seahawks Gipson already likes how he can see himself fitting into the Seahawks defense.

"Seeing the, the way that we run things and how we rush, I think I'm going to mold in perfectly to this scheme. I'm looking forward to it, I'm excited. You know, I'm with an outstanding front, defensive line and we have vets, Dre'Mont Jones, we have young guys, Byron Murphy II, you have top and bottom, so it'll be exciting to be able to get in the mix and learn from young and older guys."

Adding that, "I think the thing that I love most is I can tell that they're letting their guys go man. Rush and play physical, play fast, disruptive. I think that's something that plays into my skin."

And his initial impression of head coach Mike Macdonald shows him that he's in the right place to thrive and succeed.

"Great guy, works hard," he said about Macdonald. "I can tell that he doesn't let up on pressure, which is something that you always want. From that standpoint alone, you confirm that you're not wasting your time. You're not just out here, playing the play, you're actually playing to win. I know that's the environment that the Seahawks bring."
