Alex Collins, who has been dealing with an abdomen injury for much of the season, was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season one week before the Seahawks play their final game of the 2021 campaign.

Rookie running back Josh Johnson was signed off the practice squad to take Collins' place on the 53-man roster.

The Seahawks also activated cornerback Bless Austin from the COVID-19 list, getting back some depth at that position after both he and Sidney Jones IV missed last weekend's game due to COVID-19.

Collins has missed four of Seattle's last five games, three of them due to injury and one on the COVID-19 list, but before that he started six games in place of an injured Chris Carson. In 11 games, Collis rushed for 411 yards and two touchdowns on 108 carries.

Additionally, defensive back Gavin Heslop, who is on injured reserve, was also placed on the COVID-19 list.
