The Seahawks lost control of their playoff destiny by losing to the Steelers in Week 17, but they still have a chance to make the postseason.
In order to earn a Wild Card berth, the Seahawks need to win in Arizona, or tie, and get some help in other NFC games.
The Seahawks will make the playoffs if one of these three scenarios play out:
- Seahawks win and Green Bay loses or ties.
- Seahawks tie and Green Bay loses and Tampa Bay loses or ties.
- Seahawks tie and Green Bay loses and New Orleans loses or ties.
Seeing how rare ties are in the NFL, obviously the most likely scenario here is for the Seahawks to win and hope the Bears, who have won four of their last five games, win in Green Bay. It's not an ideal situation for the Seahawks, who had they won Sunday would be in a win-and-in situation, but it's where things stand heading into Week 18.
"We lost our control of it," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said of his team's playoff destiny after yesterday's loss. "We had control of it, and we gave that up today."
