The Seahawks re-signed cornerback Josh Jobe on Thursday, keeping a player who went from the practice squad to earning a starting role last season.

Jobe, who was set to become a restricted free agent next week with the start of the new league year, will now be back for a second season with the Seahawks after enjoying something of a breakout campaign in 2024.

"I'm very excited to be back," Jobe said after signing. "I felt like I had a breakout season last year, and I've got to keep it going. I'm not done yet; I've still got more to prove."

An undrafted free agent out of Alabama in 2022, Jobe spent his first two seasons with the Eagles, appearing in 28 games with three stars, before signing to Seattle's practice squad prior to the start of last season.

Injuries at cornerback gave Jobe an opportunity, with the Seahawks promoting him off the practice squad to start in a Week 7 win over the Falcons, and he took full advantage, playing well enough to keep his spot even after other players returned from injury.

From Week 7 on, Jobe started six of the Seahawks' final 10 games, one of several changes made throughout the season on defense that helped spark a turnaround on that side of the ball, and he played at least half of Seattle's defensive snaps in all 10 of those games, finishing the year with seven passes defensed, an interception and 37 tackles, all career highs. Now he and the defense are looking to build off of that success in 2025.

"This defense can do a lot," Jobe said. "We just have to keep that standard high and just keep going, and I think we can be a great defense."

Jobe was one of several players to earn an increased role on defense last season through their work in practice along with the likes of safety Coby Bryant and linebacker Tyrice Knight.

"It's probably the best part of the job when you see guys grow, and what gets you hooked is when guys do stuff one day that they haven't done the day before, to see hard work really pay off," said Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald last season. "I mean, these guys, they work extremely hard and a lot of them were working in the shadows to help the rest of the team. We had a crew come visit us last week and one of the people said that they wanted to be a force multiplier for their squad, and I felt like some of these guys that are really working for our teams are force multipliers for us."

After being signed to the practice squad during training camp, cornerback Josh Jobe was eventually signed to the active roster in November and would go on to play in 10 games, starting six of them. Take a look at some of the best photos from Jobe's first season in Seattle.
