The Seahawks' defensive line is undergoing some significant changes this offseason, and on Tuesday Seattle released Shelby Harris and Quinton Jefferson, two players who were significant parts of the defensive line rotation in 2022.

Harris, 31, started 15 games last season, recording 44 tackles, 2.0 sacks, four passes defensed and five tackles for loss. Prior to spending the 2022 season with the Seahawks, Harris, spent the previous five seasons in Denver, and before that spent time with the Raiders, Jets and Cowboys.

Harris joined the Seahawks last offseason as part of the trade that sent Russell Wilson to Denver, a move that included three players—Harris, starting tight end Noah Fant and quarterback Drew Lock—and multiple draft picks, including first and second-round picks in both the 2022 and 2023 drafts.

Jefferson, a fifth-round pick in 2016, spent four seasons with the Seahawks before leaving in free agency, then signed back with Seattle last season. While not a starter, Jefferson did play 48.9 percent of Seattle's defensive snaps, recording 5.5 sacks, 29 tackles and 13 quarterback hits.

The Seahawks celebrated the late Patti 'Mama Blue' Hammond at Lumen Field on Friday with an honorary flag raising led by Hammond's family, a tribute at her seat, and the stadium was lit in blue in her honor.
