The Seahawks signed defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche to the 53-man roster on Tuesday, an expected move after he played a significant role in the defensive line rotation in each of the past two games as a practice squad elevation.
Practice squad players can be elevated for game action twice without being on the 53-man roster, so Nkemdiche had to be added to the roster if he were going to play again this weekend and beyond.
Quarterback Jake Luton, who signed just before the start of the season, was waived to make room on the roster.
Seattle also signed tight end Jace Sternberger to their practice squad and released three practice squad players, receiver Connor Wedington, receiver De'Quan Hampton and tight end Michael Jacobson.
Sternberger, who was a third-round pick of the Packers in the 2019 draft, appeared in 18 games over the past two seasons, catching 12 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown.
