The Seahawks made another addition to their interior defensive line on Wednesday, signing rookie nose tackle Anthony Montalvo.
Outside linebacker Joshua Onujiogu was waived/injured to make room on the 90-man roster. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Onujiogu is dealing with a serious elbow injury that may require surgery.
Montalvo, who is 6-foot-2, 290 pounds, went undrafted out of UCF and signed with the Dolphins in May, then was waived earlier this week. After beginning his college career as a walk-on, Montalvo went on to earn a scholarship while appearing in 57 games with 36 starts, totaling 130 tackles, 6.0 sacks, four passes defensed and a forced fumble over five seasons.
Onujiogu, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent last year, appeared in one game and spent most of the season on the practice squad. He will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
The Seahawks will play at Lumen Field against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Check out action photos of their matchups throughout the years.
