The Seahawks signed Sean Mannion to the practice squad Friday, bringing back the veteran quarterback who previously was on Seattle's practice squad last season, and with the team in training camp in 2021.

Running back SaRodorick Thompson was released to make room on the practice squad.

Mannion, a former Oregon State standout and third-round pick in the 2015 draft, has appeared in 14 games in his career with three starts, most recently starting one game for the Vikings in 2021, and has experience working with current Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, having spent two seasons together with the Rams, including 2018 when Waldron was the team's passing game coordinator.

The addition of Mannion gives the Seahawks a third quarterback once again after the Jets signed Brett Rypien off Seattle's practice squad earlier this week.Ā

Thompson, an undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech who spent training camp with the Seahawks, signed to the practice squad earlier this week. His release would seem to bode well for the chances of either Kenneth Walker III or Zach Charbonnet, or both, being available for Sunday's game against the 49ers. Walker, who has missed the last two games with an oblique injury, and Charbonnet, who exited last week's game with a bruised knee, both were limited in practice Thursday after not practicing Wednesday.

Take a look at the 53-man roster for the 2023 Seahawks.
