The Seahawks activated tackle George Fant from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams, clearing the way for him to appear in his first game since he injured his knee in Seattle's season opener.

Nose tackle Cameron Young was placed on injured reserve to make room on the 53-man roster.

Additionally, cornerback Josh Jobe and receiver Cody White were elevated from the practice squad.

Fant, who started at right tackle in the opener before exiting with a knee injury, has practiced the past two weeks, and when asked about Fant's week of practice, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said, "George looks good. George looks really good."

Fant's return could mean him going back into the starting lineup at right tackle, or rookie Michael Jerrell could make a third straight game at that spot with Fant serving as tackle depth.

Asked about Young's knee injury, Macdonald said, "It's really been the same thing that's been bothering him with his knee, and it's just kind of a pain in the neck on his part. Feel bad for him. The guy is working extremely hard. He's getting better, but it just won't go away."

Jobe has played a significant role in the last two games, playing outside cornerback when Seattle is in nickel or dime defense, with Devon Witherspoon sliding inside, and last week he recorded his first career interception. With Tre Brown coming back from an ankle injury, Macdonald said those two were competing for a starting spot opposite of Riq Woolen, but did not disclose who will start on Sunday.

This is Jobe's third straight practice squad elevation, meaning if the Seahawks want to have him play beyond this week, he'll have to be added to the 53-man roster.

White, who initially joined the Seahawks' practice squad last season, will be making his Seahawks debut if active on Sunday. He previously appeared in 16 games with one start for the Steelers from 2021-2022.

The Seahawks practiced on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center as they get set to host the L.A. Rams in Week 9.
