The Seahawks claimed receiver and return specialist Jaelon Darden, who was waived by Cleveland on Wednesday.
Cornerback and returner Dee Williams was waived to make room on the 53-man roster.
Darden, a fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers in 2021, has appeared in 31 games over the past four seasons, including seven for the Browns this season. As a receiver, Darden has nine catches for 75 yards in his career, but he has extensive experience returning both kicks and punts, having returned 78 punts for 760 yards, including 22 for 234 yards this season, and 27 kick returns for 565 yards.
The move means the Seahawks will have new kickoff and punt returners going forward, with those jobs previously held by Williams, who was on kick and punt returns, and Laviska Shenault Jr., who returned kicks along with Williams before being waived earlier this week.
Williams, who signed with the Seahawks as undrafted free agent this spring, returned 15 punts for 111 yards and nine kickoffs for 254 yards.
The Seahawks and Cardinals face off on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PT. Take a look back through history at the Seahawks' matchups against the Cardinals.
