Seahawks Make Roster Moves, Establish Initial 2024 53-Man Roster

The Seahawks made a series of roster moves to reach the 53-man limit ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

The Seahawks made a series of roster moves on Tuesday to set an initial 53-man roster, a group that includes seven of the team's eight 2024 draft picks, two undrafted free agents, cornerback Dee Williams and center Jalen Sundell, and 21 players from their past three draft classes.

Perhaps most noteworthy about Tuesday's moves was the one not made with outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who left Saturday's preseason finale with a knee injury. Were the injury serious enough to keep him out for four or more games, the Seahawks likely would have placed Nwosu on injured reserve, but by leaving him on the initial 53-man roster, the implication is that he shouldn't be out too long.

In addition to waiving or releasing players to reach the roster limit, the Seahawks also placed three players on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, meaning they must miss at least the first four games of the season: tackle Abraham Lucas, safety Jerrick Reed II and nose tackle Cameron Young.

NFL teams have until tomorrow morning to place claims on players waived Tuesday, then teams can establish a practice squad with 16 players, or 17 if one is an international player. As is always the case, the majority of the Seahawks' practice squad will likely be made up of players they waived or released on Tuesday.
