The Seahawks added some tight end depth ahead of their preseason finale in Green Bay, signing Sal Cannella, who recently helped the Arlington Renegades to an XFL Championship.
Cornerback Montrae Braswell was waived to make room on the 90-man roster.
Cannella, who went undrafted out of Auburn in 2020, spent time with the Dolphins in 2021, then joined the USFL's New Orleans Breakers last year. After earning All-USFL honors with New Orleans, he signed with Green Bay last summer, then was released during training camp.
With Arlington, Cannella led the Renegades in receptions (42) and receiving yards (415) during the regular season, which ranked second most among tight ends league wide. In the Renegades' 35-26 win in the XFL Championship game, Cannella had four catches for 71 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown reception.
At Auburn, Cannella appeared in 37 games over three seasons, catching 25 passes for 330 yards and five touchdowns.
