Seahawks Sign TE Tyler Mabry To Practice Squad, Release QB Jake Luton

The Seahawks made a change to the practice squad, bringing back tight end Tyler Mabry after waiving him from the 53-man roster.

MABRY, TYLER

The Seahawks waived tight end Tyler Mabry on Friday to make room on the roster for the return of Russell Wilson and Dee Eskridge, but Mabry will be back with the team this week, having signed to the practice squad on Monday.

The Seahawks waived quarterback Jake Luton to make room on the practice squad.

Mabry, who first signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent last year, spent last season on the practice squad, then was on the 53-man roster for the first half of this season before being waived last week.

Luton, a Marysville-Pilchuck graduate who later played at Oregon State, spent most of this season on Seattle's practice squad, and was twice elevated from the practice squad to serve as the backup behind Geno Smith while Russell Wilson was out with his finger injury. With Wilson back, the Seahawks have three quarterbacks on the roster in him, Smith, and Jacob Eason, who was claimed off of waivers last month.

Another Blue Friday Night Lights celebration was held on Friday, October 15 at Renton Memorial Stadium, featuring Renton High School vs. Sammamish High School. Blitz, the Seahawks Dancers and Blue Thunder were all in attendance.
