Featuring postgame quotes from the following:
Head Coach Mike Macdonald
"Wasn't the prettiest of wins of all time, but any win in this league, preseason included, needs to be celebrated. It was an awesome atmosphere. First game at home. 12s were rocking. I've been told that's nothing compared to the regular season. We're excited for that in a couple weeks. We're on to the next part of the process here. Got a couple big days ahead of us. Just proud of the effort of the guys really throughout the offseason, training camp. Think we got a heck of a group. Excited for the next phase here. But it was a good win."
How is Uchenna Nwosu doing?
"Not sure yet. We'll get it looked at tomorrow. We'll probably know more in the next couple days."
Artie Burns? Same thing?
"Same thing with Artie."
(Question regarding Geno.)
"Made some great throws, seemed decisive. Plan was to do a couple series. I think we saw enough after I think a good five plays."
What about the defense, the one drive they had?
"Overall good. The energy was there. Execution was solid. We had the penalty on the third down, which is a little bit of a theme of the night, which is something we need to clean up moving forward. It was good to get the stop after we gave up the penalty."
What happened to Uchenna?
"He's got a knee."
Did you see the intensity that you needed to see from the first unit to the last unit?
"We gave up a lot of yards, and 33 points on the board is not going to cut it. Takes everybody. The standard is the standard. Not exactly pleased with the defensive performance as a whole. There was a lot of good things on tape, too. We'll look at it and we'll improve. We'll see. We let them convert third downs on the third down penalties. Good teams are going to make you pay. They've made us pay."
Have you made a decision on the starter?
"No. We'll know in the next couple days."
The play on Nwosu's injury, is that a football play or...
"I don't really want to comment on it. Seemed like an obvious penalty."
Artie, his foot or something?
"Yeah, I believe so."
Jamie Sheriff, what have you seen out of his performance?
"He's a guy that really stood out during the rookie tryout. Just kind of the message with all the guys; if there's not a spot for you right now, we're still invested in your growth and development. To his credit, he didn't skip a beat since he's been here. He should be proud of the way he played."
Dee Eskridge had the big punt return. How have you assessed his pre-season?
"He's capable of making plays like that. That's the type of player he is. Proud of Dee. He's worked his tail off to put himself in a good position here. He should be proud of himself."
You got players up and down the roster that flashed. How hard is it going to be to make this cut in a couple days?
"Yeah, these are hard decisions. You just kind of let what's best for the team be the guiding light. John (Schneider) and I, we've been hand-in-hand through this whole thing. I'm looking forward to kind of the next stage. This is a tough time. This is probably the toughest part of the job. I think if you look at it optimistically, you're saying, this is a long-term investment. There's opportunities for guys to be on squads, other people that have earned an opportunity somewhere else. Again, like Jamie (Sheriff), there might be an opportunity to come back. Hopefully the guys feel like we're invested in their growth, as well. Bittersweet for sure. It's going to be some tough decisions."
Kenny McIntosh, what has he been showing you?
"Him and George (Holani), I thought both played really well. George didn't have the flashy run, but he had some tough, good runs to get back to the line of scrimmage, get positive yards. I think both made plays on special teams. Just two really good players. Kenny Mac, another example of a guy that's been working really, really hard. For him to have an opportunity to make such a great play, just really happy for him. Really happy for where he's at. He should be proud of himself."
Stiff arm get guys fired up?
"Yeah, the guys were fired up on that one. It was cool."
How ready is the team to start the season?
"I think we're right where we should be. We're not the team that we need to be yet, but it's still early. The important part is us to keep taking the steps we need to take. That's going to be the focus here as the team starts to declare itself this week. Then we have a couple days' break, then come back a full week getting ready for Denver. Whatever happens in the Denver game, it's going to be the same mentality from that all the way through game 17 and into the playoffs."
What did you think of the preseason that Dareke Young had?
"Really like Dareke. He's a really good player. He does the right thing all the time. We're on record about the type of toughness that he has, the type of football player he is. I don't know what he did on teams today. I'm eager to watch that tape and see what Jay (Harbaugh) thinks, as well. I'm excited about him."
When you and Jay (Harbaugh) settled on dual kickoff returns, is that the way you're going to go?
"Yeah, probably for the most part."
Mike Morris has played a lot this preseason. You used him different ways. What do you like about what he's bringing so far?
"He's just so big out there. He can play up and down the line. Underratedly versatile. Underratedly smart player, too. He just makes plays. He's the guy that has been getting that group, that pass-rush, coordinated later in games. He's been an asset for us."
The Darrell Taylor trade yesterday, what went into that?
"I don't want to get into all the details. For D.T., it's a great opportunity for him. Excited for what he's going to do. We'll be rooting for him."
Any indication that Dre'Mont (Jones) might be back?
"Yeah, it's looking positive. We're optimistic with Dre'Mont. We'll see how many reps he gets and how we ramp it up."

WR Laviska Shenault Jr.
On his vantage point of the Dee Eskridge punt return touchdown
"You love to see it. I thought the flag was about to take the fun away. I'm glad he got that big play. That was big for him."
On how the special teams unit has progressed over the past few weeks
"I think being super detailed and doing things the right way. Putting things on film that coach wanted to see. When it comes to other teams, that's a team that no one wants to play against."
On how the new kickoff rules will affect the game
"Honestly, I think there's a lot of opportunity with the new kickoff rules. I'm just looking to take advantage of it."
RB George Holani
On how this preseason has gone for him
"First and foremost, all glory to God. It's been great for me to just go out there and try to find a role for me and just trust my training and go out there and compete."
On what it's like to score a touchdown in front of the home crowd
"It was definitely the best feeling ever, just getting the end zone. Celebrating that long drive we had, all the hard work, and just continuing to give props to the O-line, receivers and all the great blocking up front."
On how much special teams experience he had before coming to Seattle
"Little to none, honestly, I didn't play that much special teams in college. Just being able to buy in and actually learn a lot of techniques and getting with the special teams coordinator. Dialing into that has been great so far. Just being able to go out there and make a tackle. I haven't made a tackle since high school, so it's been awesome."
On the stiff arm by Kenny McIntosh
"It was great to see. We see that every day. We do that in practice, and to see it come to life in a real game it's awesome to see that. We're all on the sideline, just amped up for him. Finally getting into the end zone. It's great stuff."
RB Kenny McIntosh
On what it has meant to play in these preseason games
"It meant everything, to go out there and showcase my talent, my ability. Show the coaches that they can trust me out there on the field. Special teams, offense, wherever they allow me to step on the field. It was three big games for me."
On his touchdown run
"Man, the whole opened up so wide. I saw an arm in there, and I just had to get that arm out of the way. Pretty much two stiff arms to the end zone."
On his confidence that he was faster than the 40 time he ran at the Combine
"It looked like it today, didn't it. Definitely, game speed is different than the Combine."
On whether he always had the stiff arm skill, or whether he learned it recently
"I definitely had it in my bag, but I will say that coach K.P. [Kennedy Polamalu], he has always has emphasized the little things, and that is one of the things we always work on; stiff arming. Beating the last person. K.P. was definitely in the back of my brain when I was running the ball."
On how good this offense can be this year
"We can be special. We have the right pieces. I feel like we have the right O.C. that we trust and believe, that we've been growing with. Building this foundation. If you trust and believe in the process and the plan, I feel like we can go far."
LB Jamie Sheriff
On what it's been like getting signed and then getting three sacks the last few games
"It's a blessing because I didn't know where I was going to be. I was at home delivering beers for a beer company and when I got that call, I made the most of my opportunity."
On what Southern Beverages said when he told them he had to quit to go play football
"Actually, I quit two days before, and then two days after I ended up getting a call, so I was like, 'Look at God!"
On his path to the NFL
"It made me who I am today. I walked-on to the community college so that gave me that fire, that drive, that motivation to get better each and every day. I never settled. I'm never getting complacent. I'm always working each and every day to get better and trying to improve myself."
WR Dee Eskridge
On his punt return touchdown and what it meant to him
"It was a powerful moment just to feel the embrace of the full team. It has been a rocky road, and God has allowed me to still be here, so I just feel that embrace, especially being in Lumen Field, the last preseason game; I was floating, literally, as they picked me up. So it is just nothing short of a blessing."
On his thinking going into this game
"Just leaving it all on the field. I'm a firm believer in God, and a thousand percent of my faith is in Him, so I just came out here with the mentality that if it's my last time ever coming out here to play on this field, then so be it. God has a bigger plan, but I'm going to go out here, have fun, keep joy, and then make plays like I did."
On potential roster spot on special teams
"Yeah. Anytime you are in between the lines, it is a time where I can show my strengths, show why I should be here, so special teams, offense, anything. I feel like it's always the opportunity for me to show my greatness."
CB D.J. James
On what was his favorite play of the night
"I got to go with the QB scramble, and a guy tried to come block me. I had to make a move and get the QB on the ground, and that was a great play for me tonight."
On how he would assess his preseason
"I've learned a lot, just taking in every day from the older days. From Riq (Woolen) , from Spoon (Devon Witherspoon), from Coby (Bryant). Just lining up with those guys, they help me a lot just understand the game, understanding the NFL, what to expect in certain formations. Helping me play faster."
On the journey since the start of the preseason
"It was adventurous. We just moved me around, I had a lot to learn. Just coming in every day, learning under those guys I just told you all about, that helped me a lot. I appreciate my coach, coach Karl Scott. He helped me, kept pushing me. Him and coach Mike Macdonald, they pushed me every day, because they knew I had it in me, and I appreciate them a lot for that."
On his pride at playing as a physical cornerback
"I am very prideful about that, because that is something in my game that people want to see out of me. People know I can cover, but people want to see that I can come down and just be that physical DB that will come down and face up a runner. So, that's something I'm trying to show."
LB Tyrice Knight
On what he likes about what he put on tape for coaches
"I think I put on tape and showed that what I did in college I can translate it to the NFL. I know I got areas to improve in, but for the most part I thought I did a good job this preseason."
On Head Coach Mike Macdonald telling him that he isn't a rookie anymore and what his response to that was
"I didn't really have a response. I just took that as basically I have no time to waste. I know honestly, everything that he wants from me this year he wants me to be treated like a vet and he expects great things from me so I feel like that's a good thing. He expected a rook, it's so early so I know he thinks we can ball."
On what he thinks he needs to work on in the coming weeks
"Nobody's perfect. I know I got a lot of areas to improve on from A to Z. I think with me, just more consistency with everything I do. Dropping in coverage, really everything. So I think It's possible to improve every part of my game to become the best player possible."
T Michael Jerrell
On what he liked about what the offense showed today
"I loved to show that we're very versatile. We can throw it through the air, put it on the ground and run it. I love the gritty offense. I feel like we left a couple plays out there that we'd love to get back on some more drives but for the most part we showed that we can be very dynamic."
On the good run statistics produced by the offense this game and if he is pleased with the numbers
"I want more, I want more. I always want more. O-line, we want more. We want more yards, more rushing yards."
On what he likes about George Holani's style of running
"Powerful. He knows he's going to run through somebody's face. He's a hard runner, a hard nose, he fights for extra yards. I love it."
