Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's going on out there and any news you might have missed, about your Seattle Seahawks. this week.

The Seattle Sports Commission is hosting their 90th Annual Sports Star of the Year Awards on Thursday, February 27. This milestone night honors remarkable athletes, coaches, and community leaders who make a difference, including Seahawks President Chuck Arnold, Marshawn Lynch, Jordan Babineaux, and Kam Chancellor.

The Weekly John Schneider Show

During this week's Seattle Sports' John Schneider Show, Seahawks general manager/president of football operations talked scouting, salary cap and his thoughts on the offensive guard position.

On guards, Schneider said, "It's extremely important, it's highly valued. But we still to this day, because of the dearth of talent at the position, will overpay at that position and will over-draft at that position."

Schneider explained further, "The philosophy is not like we're not going to overpay (guards). We probably will because we have to, right? But you have to be smart with those decisions. So are we going to overpay a guard and lose out on a defensive tackle? No, we'd rather pay the player that we think is a better talent. It's kind of like drafting for need in the draft."

The Seahawks hold the No. 18 overall selection in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, which is just over two months away. Last year, with their first-round pick, the Seahawks drafted Byron Murphy II. National media members in this edition of the mock draft tracker have Seattle taking anywhere from a quarterback to a linebacker.
