Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Thursday, August 13 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner Ranked As NFL's Top Offensive-Defensive Duo
On Wednesday, NFL.com’s Gil Brandt went around the league to see which teams boasted the best combination of number one offensive and defensive players. While some division-rival pairings were able to crack the top ten — San Francisco's George Kittle and Nick Bosa at 10, and Arizona's DeAndre Hopkins and Chandler Jones at 4 — Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner were recognized as the league's top duo.
Since entering the league in 2012, both players have built quite the resume. Wilson is the winningest quarterback in NFL history through his first eight seasons, having only missed the playoffs once. And according to Pro Football Focus, six-time All-Pro and two-time tackles leader Bobby Wagner has missed on a mere 5.5% of his tackle attempts since 2012, which ranks first in the NFL.
Just last week, Wilson and Wagner were both featured in NFL.com's '30 Best Players over 30' list, with Wilson being ranked number 1. The two Seahawks stars seem to be entering the prime of their careers if they weren't there already, as they're each coming off of seasons that statistically could be considered some of their best. In 2019, Wilson threw 31 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions and led 5 game winning drives while once again leading the Hawks to a divisional round playoff game. Wagner continued to be a tackle machine last season, racking up 159 of them to lead the league. Wagner currently ranks 4th among all active players in career tackles with 1075.
Wilson and Wagner have undoubtedly been two of the key cogs to the Seahawks' success over the past decade. The two gems of the 2012 draft class will look to continue on their legendary pace as they try to bring another ring to Seattle.
