2024-10-11-roundup

Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's going on out there and any news you might have missed, about your Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle lost their third-straight game Thursday night to the San Francisco 49ers and know they have to 'fight like heck to make it right'.

"Look, it stings," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said following the game. "It stings to have lost three in a row, to lose it against your division rival at home, prime time, such a great environment. Guys fought their tails off down to the last minute, but we're not playing well enough to be the team we needed to be. The message to the team is we have the people in the building. Our players, our coaches, to become a really good football team. Right now, we're just coming up short. That's obvious based the off tape and what's going on. We've got to start faster. We have to win the takeaway differential. That's a team stat. We're just not doing the things that good football teams do to win football games. And so we're going to attack it, we're going to take a breather and really go back and dissect the heck out of that thing. I just told them, you've got one of two options, you can give up or you can fight like heck to make it right. That's what we're going to do. We're six games into the season and there is a lot of football to be played, but just like the message was last week, we've got to get better in a hurry. We're finding new ways to lose games and that's no good. But we've got the right guys for the job, guys that are in it. We're going to do this thing together and fight forward and go to Atlanta next week."

The Seahawks have a couple extra days this week to get ready for their road game against the Falcons on October 20.

Week 5 High School Coach Of The Week

Our week 5 coach of the week winners are defensive coordinator Steve Reeves of Kennewick High School and head coach Cody Lamb of La Salle High School of Yakima. Each coach will be invited to a Seahawks game later this season to be recognized for their accomplishments and will receive a $500 donation to their football program.

Coach Steve Reeves is the defensive coordinator for the Kennewick Lions. Prior to coaching at Kennewick coach Reeves was the defensive coordinator at Ellensburg High School for 21 years under head coach Randy Affholter who now leads the Lions as well. Coach Reeves has been happily married to his wife Mone for 36 years and has two amazing kids and 4 special grandchildren.

Coach Reeves has clearly lived a life of community service after retiring as a detective sergeant after 32 years with the Washington State Patrol. "I started coaching as a way to give back and have a positive impact on young men like my high school coach did for me after my father passed away. The measure of my success comes from when my players become adults and are good husbands, fathers, and have a positive impact in the communities in which they live," Reeves said. Reeves have led the Lions defense to only allow an average of 8 points or less per game and had a huge win 14-13 on the road against 4A powerhouse Richland to move the Lions to a 5-0 start on the season.

Coach Cody Lamb is in his 12th Season as the head coach of La Salle High School of Yakima where he also serves as a teacher and director of campus ministry. Coach Lamb is happily married to his wife Molly and they have 4 boys they are very proud of! The Lamb family lives and breathes La Salle High School football! Coach Lamb is the all-time wins leader in La Salle history, surpassing HOF coach Jack McMillan last season. La Salle was recently named the WIAA 2B Team of the month for September and beat Goldendale 19-0, ending the Timberwolves' 16-game EWAC West Conference win streak. La Salle is now 5-0 to start the year and #5 in the WIAA RPI rankings for 2B.

Hawks Huddle Business of the Week

The **Hawks Huddle** business of this week is Dingfelder's Delicatessen

Dingfelder's Delicatessen was founded by owner Vance Dingfelder who saw a perfect opportunity to bring a NY Deli to Seattle. At his local temple, Vance used to host deli comedy showcase nights. Every year, more and more people attended and urged him to open his own delicatessen. A dear friend battling breast cancer further supported Vance. Before she passed, she encouraged him to open the deli, and even with his refusal, open it in his own last name.

On the partnership, Dingfelder said, "The opportunity to partner with the Seahawks, it's a dream come true," Vance said. "I have been a season ticket holder since 1998-99… I feel that the Seahawks organization is as good as it can get in the NFL …. And I want to be a part of that."
