On the Jets two turnovers and penalties…
We started playing really good complementary football in all three phases. We didn't end the first half the way that we needed to and should have. The second half was definitely not clean football at all by all three phases. Can't win like that.
On the Jets offense not scoring after the first quarter…
We have to take a hard look at this tape. Just the operation, the penalties, a little bit of a lot of different stuff. We have to make sure we're cleaner there.
On the incompletion to Garrett Wilson prior to the Leonard Williams pick-six…
It's big for sure. At the same time, those moments are going to happen in games and you have to overcome them. Really good teams, when adversity hits and you do something like a self-inflicted wound, you respond and we didn't respond like we needed to.
On the Jets 12-man on the field penalty in the fourth quarter…
I'll take full blame for that. They were going for it on fourth down. Initially, we thought their punt team was coming out, so their punt return unit went out, and then they decided to go for it on fourth. We have to be better at communicating that across the board. I'm so accustomed to signaling to the guys near the ball, forget sometimes that the returner is back there. That's unacceptable.
On the Jets penalties in the fourth quarter…
I have to look at every single one of those penalties and see exactly if they're real, if they're not real, what caused them, and get to the bottom of it. It's not OK. It's not acceptable. It's not our standard. Penalties ultimately extend drives. We can't let that happen.
On the Jets being 0-5 in games when they had a chance to win on the final drive of the game…
We have to figure that out. We have to figure that out quickly. It's never on one person, it isn't. It's on the entire collective group, from players to coaches to every single human being out there on offense. We have to be better in those moments.
On the Jets record of 3-9 and where they go from here…
Keep pushing. We don't have a whole lot of options other than we're going to keep working. We're going to stay together. We're going to play the best football humanly possible by this group. We're going to try and celebrate this team as best we can.
On the play of Jets QB Aaron Rodgers…
I always want to go back and really watch the tape, and I have to watch the tape with Todd (Dowling). A lot of times, he'll give me all the nuance and intricacies within the game plan and footwork and the timing and all that. That will be a better question for tomorrow.
On how many body blows this team can take…
It's hard. This is a true test of every man and coach in that locker room. We have to respond. It's our only choice.
On if he would consider making a quarterback change…
Not as of today.
On if he considered calling a timeout on Seattle's third-down late in the first half…
What stopped me was that it was 3rd and four, and this is one of the better third and 2-6 teams in the league. It's a high percentage play and they've converted that on most people most of the time. I just wanted to get out of the half and try to inhibit them from getting a score there. In hindsight, it might not have been the best thing to do.
On the play of the Jets defense…
We had moments where we really played our brand of football to our standard, and there were moments where we did not. That's kind of been the common tale this season. If you want to be a championship team, if you want to be a winning team, you have to be consistent. I think the strain is right. I think the physicality is right. It's the execution piece. We have got to clean it up because in critical moments that don't allow you to win games like that.
On Jets injuries…
Morgan (Moses) with a shoulder. He left and did not return. Sauce (Gardner) with the hamstring, same as. Fortunately, the DB's, as many guys that went down there, especially down the stretch, all cramping and stuff, as of right now, it doesn't seem serious.
On the play of Kene Nwangwu and the Jets special teams…
What an amazing story. Kene (Nwangwu) was a guy for weeks now who we have been spotlighting and showing the team. Just his process and how hard he's worked. He earned the right to play today and all that that hard work came to fruition. It was a really amazing moment, not just for him, but for the team because he team is really invested in that human being. Special teams did their part.
On if there are any changes he wants to make before Miami…
Not right now.

On the difference today…
There were a lot of things, but I think the two-play stretch where I missed Garrett (Wilson) open to go up 28-7 and threw a pick-six, it kind of changed the momentum of the game.
On how much penalties impacted the game…
A lot. Definitely a lot.
On the missed touchdown to Wilson…
I tried to throw it about five inside. Wind was a little inconsistent. Maybe I should have thrown it a little flatter because he was wide open. I've got to hit that, doesn't matter, windy, I've played in wind before. It was inconsistent, but I've got to hit that.
On Leonard Williams' pick six…
I kind of read behind the right guard, I couldn't see him.
On the little things the offense didn't do…
I don't know. I feel like we ran the ball pretty well. There were a lot of holes all day. The wind made it a little difficult throwing it, but we had some chances.
On his mindset at 3-9…
It's disappointing. I mean, what else can you say? We've had a lot of chances in these situations, a lot of these games come down to one play and whether you make it or miss it and sometimes that play comes in the second quarter. If you make that play, 28-7, different ball game.
On what he hopes to work on before Miami…
Oh (expletive), I don't know. I don't know. We've just got to look at the film, be honest about it, critique ourselves, and move on.
On the offense having the ball in their hand with a chance to win…
It's a lot of things, I would say, combined.
On if that is the most frustrating thing about the year…
I mean, it's not the most frustrating thing. There's a lot of frustrating things. That's definitely one of them.
On why the team can't finish…
I don't know. I think, again, games are often won the first, second, and third quarter. Fourth quarter, it's an important time of the game, but plays at the end of the second quarter cost us this game. Then comes the fourth quarter, it's execution, it's strain, it's the little things, it's accuracy. And we just have a lot to go around, myself included, first and foremost.
On if Seattle's defense changed anything after the first few series…
They stopped pressing. They stopped pressing us so much, for sure. They tried to press us early in the game, we ran by them, just missed some throws. Hit a couple throws, they played a little bit less of that.
On if he would've liked to have gotten the ball back at the end of the first half…
Yeah, I mean, we got the ball with I think six seconds left. So, it's not a lot of options there. Just trying to get some positioning for a Hail Mary.
On how much more the team can take…
This was as frustrating as it comes because we started off fast, Kene (Nwangwu) has two incredible plays, we're up 21-7, they fumble the next kickoff and we get a chance to bury them by three scores. And then the second half there was, obviously, some calls that didn't go our way, a lot of chances to win. Just happens too many times this season.
On how he feels…
I feel great. I was moving around well. Felt like it was as good as I've felt all season moving around and extending plays. Came out fine.
On why the numbers aren't what he expected if he is healthy…
Well, there are 11 guys on the field. Sometimes it's my fault. Definitely multiple times today. And then the details aren't there in some other spots, too.
On the illegal formation penalty…
I have no idea what was going on over there. I'm not sure. I saw that Tae (Davante Adams) was set. I actually didn't send Malachi (Corley), but felt like his motion was going to be fine. I think he was motioning on the left side, tight end. I didn't see what happened.
On if he thinks the team will make a change at quarterback…
Yeah, I don't know. We'll figure that out when we have those conversations.
On if he has ever been part of potentially being benched…
Well, I felt like in '18 there was a possibility for sure. In '05 when I was a backup we were three-and-a-lot multiple times and didn't make a change. Didn't make a change in '18 either. But, yeah, I'll have conversations with Brick (Jeff Ulbrich) with what he's thinking.
On if he wants to keep playing…
(Nods head yes.)
On what he would do if the team makes a change at quarterback…
It's a hypothetical. I'll tell you after-the-fact if that happens.
