Head Coach Sean McVay

(Opening remarks)

"Okay, guys. [I'm] just so proud of this football team. I thought there were so many positive contributions today. I think it really is a real credit to the depth that we've been able to establish on this roster. I liked what we were able to do defensively. We got enough stops. Obviously, you saw some of our guys that haven't maybe played significant roles in some early downs… I thought (DE) Desjuan Johnson showed up. I thought we were able to get some of our sub rush packages going. That was an efficient group for us. [We] got some good stops to allow us to get back in the game. Offensively, I was really pleased. I thought (QB) Jimmy (Garoppolo) did an excellent job. I thought (Offensive Coordinator) Mike LaFleur did a great job mixing it up. I thought really our coaches as a whole had that group ready to go. I thought we protected well. You look at (OL) Joe Noteboom and (OL) Warren McClendon Jr. on the edges. (OL) Jonah Jackson, Steve (Avila) at guard, and obviously (OL) Dylan McMahon at the center position. We did use some six and seven man protections. I thought our tight ends competed well and I thought guys made plays. We ran the ball efficient enough to be able to keep drives going. I was really pleased with some of the plays that you saw from (WR) Jordan Whittington. I thought it was a great job by (WR) Tyler Johnson early on in the game [to] be able to make a guy miss in the flat versus a man coverage and create after the catch. (WR) Demarcus (Robinson) making a couple plays on some vertical routes and then I thought it was a big catch on the third down and five that (WR) Tutu Atwell had. He had a couple drops where he was separating but overall, I thought it was a positive takeaway. We're excited about our eyes forward to whoever ends up losing this game tonight."

(On an injury update on RB Blake Corum)

"Yeah, he fractured his forearm, unfortunately. He's a tough, resilient guy. He's going to be a really good player for us for a long time but he will miss the postseason."

(On which forearm Corum broke)

"I want to say, now that I'm thinking about it when I hugged him, I think it was his right forearm."

(On his confidence in this team after what he saw today)

"I would say this, I'm not surprised. This group has continuously responded. I'm just proud of them. They've continuously showed that they can step up. Guys can answer the bell when their opportunity arises and today we came up short, but there were a lot of good positives to be able to take away. I think that's a really good football team. They gave us everything that we had and I thought you saw us go toe to toe and you come up just short right there where you're getting underneath the ball and maybe we end up punching that in. But I was really proud of this group. Now I'm looking forward to watching us have a great week of preparation, continue to build on what we've done and we'll go swing and shoot our shot whenever our game is in the postseason."

(On what the preparation process is like having a body of data on their potential opponent having faced them already this season)

"We still played them so early. You play Detroit in the opener and then Minnesota fairly early in the season. There's just a little bit of familiarity, but they have the same thing with us. So much changes as the season goes. You still try to stay abreast of what's going on relative to what are they doing in the different phases, having your eyes on those possible matchups that could occur. Our guys have really kind of gotten ahead for the different possibilities that could occur and then that preparation will start as soon as that game ends when we have clarity on which direction we are going in terms of who's going to come in here."

(On TE Tyler Higbee having five catches and a touchdown today and where he's at compared to before the injury)

"I thought he looked like himself tonight. He's made some really good plays. He's played a little limited snap count over the last couple weeks. I thought he played a little bit more tonight.

Getting your feet wet. He's a great football player though and he's just got such a great energy and a swag, really productive in both phases. I thought he did really well. I think it was an excellent step in the right direction and he's going to be a key factor for us next week."

(On how much preparation work the team has done looking ahead to the potential Wild Card opponent)

"The guys that are responsible for doing the breakdowns and different things like that, they get ahead for the possible scenarios that could arise. We don't worry about any of that with our players. I mean, some of the guys that weren't playing might have looked ahead but we've really just said, 'Okay, as soon as we find out who that opponent is a lot of the foundational work that allows us to be able to really start the real prep in terms of the breakdowns, some of the information that we need to be able to gather, that's a little bit more seamless in terms of how we go about it and [the] quick turnaround.'"

(On how much he's involved in the early preparations)

"I was involved. I wanted to be totally and completely present this week but you have a little bit of time to be able to have an idea but it's more about… alright, let's look at ourselves and then let's figure out based on what those possible scenarios could be, how that would adjust and alter some of the things that you might want to do on both sides.'"

(On the youth on this team and what messages he's trying to get across as they enter playoff territory)

"Enjoy the opportunity. Let's go swing. Let's go compete to the best of our ability. Let's continue to take steps that are in the right direction. You get into the dance it's a single elimination tournament. We're going to go swing. We're going to shoot our shot. We're not going to be afraid to do anything other than go for it."

(On his confidence going up against the Vikings or the Lions)

"I believe in our team. I think it's one of those deals that we respect all, but we fear none. These are excellent football teams. There's a reason why they're sitting here and they're playing for the one seed tonight and a 15-2 record and a 14-3 record to whoever comes up short. But it's going to be a great challenge. I do know this, I've been fortunate enough to get into this thing and you can't worry about ducking people. If you want to try to be able to advance and you really expect to try to be able to make some noise when you get in it, you're going to have to play people eventually. I felt like it was the smart move for our football team and really, we had an opportunity to be able to come away with the win. We know it's going to be a great football team coming in here and we're excited about the challenge. That's what you love."

(On K Joshua Karty's performance today)

"He was awesome. You talk about just how pure he struck the football today. I thought the last field goal that we had to be able to go up 25-24 was an excellent hold by [P] Ethan Evans and really good timing by [K] Joshua [Karty]. But to hit two longer 50-yard field goals the way that he did, I think he's peaking at the right time. He's just been so steady. I'm really proud of Josh, but I'm not surprised just based on the things that go on behind the scenes and how he's just been so steady throughout this journey that we've been on."

(On K Joshua Karty getting longer range field goals at home before the Wild Card matchup)

"Not really. It ended up working out that way but I do think it was beneficial. He is so steady. I think he's got a lot of confidence right now and I never really sensed the change in his demeanor regardless of when we've had to overcome some different circumstances. I think he's been outstanding as of late and that's really a credit to our operation as a whole and give [Special Teams Coordinator] Chase [Blackburn] and [Special Teams Assistant] Coach Aukerman a ton of credit as well."

(On Special Teams playing a pivotal role leading into the playoffs)

"It's a big part. You never know exactly how the game unfolds. Sometimes there are more opportunities to affect and influence the game than others, but I thought tonight they did exactly what they could. I think [WR] Xavier Smith's done a really good job making good decisions. [WR] Jordan Whittington, you talk about a guy that's fearless when he hits those kick returns. He almost came out on a real positive one. You can feel he's just a strong, fearless guy that gets full head of steam and we get connected, just based on the way that that plays set up, he's a threat to be able to take it."

(On if he doesn't care who the Rams play in the Wild Card Round)

"No, I don't. I really don't. I know what's at stake and you have tremendous respect, but I'm excited about seeing who that is and then we're going to dive into it. We're going to go for it with no fear."

(On if there's anything he wants to gear up for playoffs)

"I think it depends. Here's the biggest thing. The best part about this and why people love it is it's whoever plays the best in that window of time you're allotted. Let's control the things that we can control. There are certain things that we can't, the bounce of the ball, some of the decisions that maybe officials make, but we're going to put our focus and concentration on everything that we can control. If we put it together with some of the guys we have at the right spots and the way that this team is capable of playing, you tell me it's a three-and-a-half-hour window where we get a chance to go compete I'm saying, 'I'll take it and let's go swing.'"

QB Jimmy Garoppolo

(On his experience playing a full game)

"I wanted to come away with the win, but I had a blast with the guys, honestly. It's a fun group of dudes and a good team. That locker room is a good one. I had a lot of fun out there today. We just came up a little short, but that's the way it goes."

(On whether it was easy to get back into the groove)

"Yeah, I got hit pretty early in the first or second drive. Like I said, I just took the one hit and then I felt like it was right back to normal."

(On whether his brother punched him before the game)

"Didn't do that. He was busy this week, so we didn't (laughter). Once I got that first hit, it felt normal."

(On what was working in the screen game and whether some of the pre-snap and handoff misdirection plays were effective today)

"You have to give credit to the guys up front. They make those screens go whether it's a receiver, running back or whoever it is. The line played great today and gave me clean pockets. It's not a normal group, so they battled their ass off. I was loving it with those guys. It was one of those games that took everybody. We knew it was going to, get the run after catch and little things like that. It was good. We were close today, but just short."

(On whether he was nervous before his first sack on the game)

"No, no different than normal. I always get nervous before games so pretty standard stuff. It felt good getting that first hit and then I just started rolling."

(On whether he thinks the team is getting better over time)

"Yeah. Like I said before, it's a good locker room starting with [Head] Coach [Sean] McVay. When you have a guy that brings energy every day, it just kind of trickles down to everyone else. Now it gets real fun going into this playoff run."

(On whether he feels he showed enough today to warrant a starting job somewhere next season)

"I'll have to go back and watch it. I'm pretty critical of myself. I thought I missed a couple here and there. Like I said before, it wasn't our normal group out there. It was kind of a put it together quickly type of week. I thought the guys handled it well. It was a couple young guys out there getting their first starts and things like that. It was really cool. I love going to battle with those guys."

(On the touchdown to WR Tyler Johnson and how he was feeling after that play)

"Ty, he's a dog man. He really is. All week he was balling. I knew he was going to come up with the right mindset, all those receivers. It's a great group. Ty specifically, he had a good mindset today. He said something to me right when we were leaving that huddle. [He said] he'll be there on the corner. Number one [read] wasn't there. Tyler was open. He took care of the rest."

(On how was the familiarity of Seattle helped)

"It definitely helped. They changed some things up on us a little bit. That's a good defensive line. They gave us some problems. I thought the guys, like I said before, the O-line handled it well."

(On McVay's message heading into the playoffs)

"Just get ready. We'll watch the game tonight to see what happens, see who's coming in here next week and take it from there."

(On whether the lack of offensive weapons weighted his appetite to be a starter somewhere else)

"I think those things handle themselves, honestly. The people who know know in this league. That's kind of the thing I've realized as I've gotten older in my career. It's one of those things you go out there and put up good tape, and I thought we'd put up some good tape today offensively, and the rest will take care of itself. Honestly, the chips fall as they may after that."

(On whether the team takes McVay's message of 'not ducking people' as an ethos)

"Yeah. Sean's energy trickles down. It really starts with him and ends with him. When we take his message to the field, I think good results happen."

(On his advice to the younger players on the team)

"Just get ready. The playoffs are a different beast. It was a dog fight out there today, but these playoff games are all dog fights. I've been in a couple of them myself. I try to give these guys advice or any little thing like that. We have a good team with a good mindset. They'll take care of a lot of things."

(On whether he feels the team is under the radar and whether it could be a positive)

"Yeah, call it what you want, under the radar or whatever. We have some dogs on this team. I know we're going to show up next week ready to roll."
