Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Friday, November 5 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
710 ESPN's "Jake & Stacy" Make Picks For Seahawks First Half MVP
The 2021 season hasn't quite gotten off to the start that many were expecting for the Seahawks. At 3-5, they find themselves in last place in the NFC West, with offensive stalwarts Russell Wilson and Chris Carson having missed significant time due to injury. Still, with the return of Wilson and Carson looming, and behind a defense that has shown vast improvement over the past month, a playoff spot is far from out of the question for the Seahawks.
Backup quarterback Geno Smith has fared well in Wilson's absence, completing over 70% of his passes with five touchdowns and no interceptions over three starts. Star wide receivers Tyler Lockett (41 rec., 579 yards, 3 TD) and DK Metcalf (39 rec. 580 yards, 8 TD) have helped Smith keep the pass game afloat, while Bobby Wagner has continued to anchor the Seahawks' defense, leading the league with 93 tackles. Cornerbacks D.J. Reed and rookie Tre Brown have been bright spots for the secondary, as well as safety Quandre Diggs, who has recorded three interceptions on the season for the fifth time in a row.

On Thursday, 710 ESPN Jake Heaps and Stacy Rost made their choices for Seahawks MVP over the first half of the season during the "Jake & Stacy" show. For Heaps, Lockett and Metcalf shared the honor for their efforts in upholding offensive production through the air even without Russell Wilson.
"I think that these two guys have really held it down for the team, even with Russell Wilson being out," Heaps said. "You pay Tyler Lockett in the offseason, he continues to give you tremendous production, and he has been a huge factor for this offense on every level of the field.
"And you can't say that without DK Metcalf. To me, these two guys have continued to be the big play weapons for this offense."
Rost went defense for her two MVP picks. "First, Quandre Diggs," she said. "How do you not pick Quandre Diggs, especially when he gets his third interception of the year? He's allowed the lowest passer rating of any of the defensive players on this team, the lowest completion percentage, really just everything."
Rost's second pick was second-year defensive end Darrell Taylor., who leads the team in sacks (4.0) and is tied for the lead in tackles for loss (3.0). 'He's had somewhat limited snaps obviously, since it's essentially his rookie season, but he earned more snaps and that came in the game against Jacksonville. He was phenomenal."
