Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Friday, January 27 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
For the fourth-consecutive season, wideout Tyler Lockett surpassed the 1,000-yard mark. The numbers for the eighth-year Kansas State alum don't show any signs of an impending slowdown, as ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight team, using NFL Next Gen Stats, ranks Lockett the No. 3 wideout for the 2022 season.
A week ago, Lockett was ranked by ESPN as the No.33 most-valuable player of the 2022 season - a spot ahead of Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. On the year, Lockett caught 84 passes for 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns. With 50 first down plays, Lockett converted 50 or more first down plays in a season for the third time. It was also a great year for the wideout according to advanced analytics. Throughout the 2022 season, ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight team has used a ton of metrics to calculate the league’s-best wideouts in several categories. Rotating between the top-five spots for the majority of the season, Lockett finishes the year third overall.
At a graded 84 overall, Lockett falls behind just Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown (88) and Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson (85). Lockett comes in second place with a 95 "Get Open" score, paying respect to his proven ability to create separation from defenders. Lockett also finds himself at No.8 on the Catch grades, earning a 79.
Despite not earning a Pro Bowl nod for his efforts, Lockett was selected as an alternate. Lockett has no problem embracing the underdog role, but as the list shows - there are some taking notice to the greatness taking place in Seattle.
