Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Friday, December 15 — about your Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf reflects on facing his former college teammate and roommate, Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown.

The Seahawks prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, and in addition to being key to keeping Seattle's playoff hopes alive, the game serves as a reunion for Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf & Eagles wideout A.J. Brown, who have gone from college teammates and roommates to NFL stars.

From 2016-2018, the pair were teammates and roommates while starring for Ole Miss, developing a bond and becoming one of the best receiver duos in college football. But their story began as high school rivals in their native Mississippi. Metcalf starred at Oxford High; Brown was a multi-sport star for Starkville High, joining Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray as the second player in history to play in Under Armour's All-America football and baseball games. After several years of competing against one another and often being compared, the duo shined together in the 2015 Mississippi vs Alabama All-Star game. The duo quickly went from rivals to friends, with Metcalf convincing Brown to join him at Ole Miss over Alabama.

"Once we got to Ole Miss, it was all over." Brown told ESPN in 2020 when speaking of their high school rivalry. "It was all over. It was all she wrote. When we got there, we wanted to make each other better and just linked up. We didn't look back."

The pair began working together in the film room and on the field to maximize each other's potential. In 2020, the pair discussed with ESPN how they made each other better.

"I was the weight-room guy," said Metcalf. "He was the football guy. Anything that I learned on the field, it was from watching A.J., being around him doing drills."

Brown added in Metcalf's contribution to his growth as a player.

"DK really pushed me man," said Brown. "Everything comes easy to him. Running, lifting weights, everything. He does it effortlessly. With him being around me, it raised my level of play because we always competed and worked out together, trying to uplift each other."

Since both were drafted in the second round of the 2019 draft, the pair has each notched 5,000-plus receiving yards, 350-plus receptions and 40-plus touchdowns.

Now, the star pair gets to meet up again in a crucial matchup in the NFC playoff picture. This week, Metcalf discussed the chance to play against his close friend while praising his journey to NFL elite.

"He was always a better route runner than me," said Metcalf. "And he always caught the ball naturally. That's something I always tried to do better than him, I always admired how he did that. I just tried to copy him and do everything that he did but put my own spin on it. A.J. is the ultimate competitor, one of my good friends and I definitely would not be in front of you all today if he wasn't my teammate. Just hats off to him and congratulations to everything he's done since he's got in the league."

The pair comes into next week tied for sixth in the league in receiving touchdowns (7). Monday's matchup highlights two of Mississippi's greatest athletes.
