Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Monday, February 24 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
Man Of Many Talents
Although you may have seen Greg Olsen in your home before calling a football game on FOX, this past Sunday was the first time that Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen was in the booth.
On Saturday afternoon, FOX sportscaster Curt Menefee tweeted out a photo of Olsen and himself in the broadcast booth prior to kickoff of the XFL's Los Angeles Wildcats hosting the D.C. Defenders. Menefee giving viewers the play-by-play while Olsen was the color commentator.
Menefee welcomed Olsen as 'another partner' in the booth, adding that Olsen is 'the newest member of the Seahawks.' When's the last time you've seen a current NFL player calling a game in a different league? Now I'd say that's talent.
Later in the day the tight end tweets out another photo of the pair during the show, sayings he's 'had a blast calling @XFLonFOX w/ my guy @curtmenefee.' He also gives a special shout out to FOX sportscaster Kevin Burkhardt, who's seemingly played a mentor role for Olsen during his broadcasting career.
With Olsen having previously done some broadcast work with FOX earlier in his NFL career, we'll see what's in store for his future in the booth.
