Monday Round-Up: ESPN Ranks Pass Blocking Of NFL Offensive Tackle Duos

The Seahawks offensive tackle duo of Duane Brown and Germain Ifedi rank highly on ESPN.com's list of the NFL's best pass-blocking duos.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today - Monday, October 22 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Brown, Ifedi Earn High Pass-Blocking Marks

ESPN.com released a ranking of the NFL's best offensive tackle pass-blocking duos and the Seahawks' combination of left tackle Duane Brown and right tackle Germain Ifedi earn high marks.

The pair of Seattle players come in at No. 5 out of 32 on ESPN's list, which bases pass-blocking efficiency on ESPN Analytics' new Pass Block Win Rate (PBWR) metric. PBWR uses Next Gen Stats to show how regularly an offensive lineman can hold a block for 2.5 seconds or longer, and through six games the Seahawks' Pro Bowler Brown has posted an 87 percent PBWR, while Seattle's former first-round pick Ifedi has recorded an 83 percent PBWR. ESPN states the league average for tackles is 79 percent PBWR.

Only the Buffalo Bills' (No. 4), Miami Dolphins' (No. 3), Green Bay Packers' (No. 2), and Los Angeles Rams' (No. 1) offensive tackle tandems rank higher than the Seahawks linemen, which has shown considerable improvement under new line coach Mike Solari, who was added to head coach Pete Carroll's staff this past offseason.
