Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Monday, March 2 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
Lynch At Princeton
If any of you have attended a four-year university, you have to be familiar with your school's commencement ceremony. Commencement is otherwise known as graduation. Every university celebrates it differently, normally selecting one or more guest speakers to impart their wisdom to the exiting students. In Princeton's case, commencement as a whole will include a speech from Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.
Yes, you heard that right. Princeton. Speech. Marshawn Lynch.
Princeton's Class Day takes place the day before their commencement ceremony and is organized by members of the senior class. Class Day includes remarks by graduating seniors, the recognition of class members for their contributions and the induction of honorary class members.
This year, the Class Day committee came together to select Lynch as their guest speaker for his efforts in the greater community and social justice. "Our goal was to invite a speaker who embodies the various experiences we have shared as a community during our Princeton tenure; someone whose professional and personal passions speak to the service-focused and intellectually rigorous interests core to the University," said a few of the Class Day co-chairs.
"Mr. Lynch's sustained professional excellence is not the only reason we are excited to have him serve as our Class Day speaker. His substantive work in communities stands alongside his on-field success…From his stops in the Bay Area, to Buffalo, to Seattle, Mr. Lynch has always prioritized community engagement and empowerment by leveraging his prominence as a professional athlete to promote opportunities for civic engagement and social justice."
The students said they are excited to hear Lynch's thoughts on the positive impact seniors can make after graduation. Who knows, maybe Princeton grads will also soon be told to 'take care of their chickens?'
Social Post Of The Day
Today's 'Social Post of the Day' comes from a conversation between Seahawks running back Chris Carson and defensive backs Quandre Diggs and Tre Flowers, as Carson joins the fun with a friendly roast of Diggs.
