Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Monday, December 4 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
Over 15 million viewers tuned in for Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football matchup between the Seahawks and Cowboys, setting a new viewership and streaming record.
In May of 2021, Amazon Prime acquired the rights to exclusively broadcast Thursday Night Football beginning with the 2022 season. In a thrilling Week 13 Thursday night matchup, the Cowboys and Seahawks combined for 76 points, with Dallas winning 41-35, and created the most-watched video in Prime’s broadcasting history with 15.26 million viewers.
In Week 2, the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles set the previous viewership record of 15.05 million viewers, as the Eagles claimed a 34-28 victory. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw for six touchdowns in a matchup that not only broke Prime's viewership records on television, but also streaming. Amazon Prime's broadcast has elevated from strictly over-the-air television to streaming, as sports fans choose between cable television and devices like Amazon's Fire Stick or Apple TV. The ability to tune into games on-the-go when not in front of the television has surely increased the opportunity for viewership.
Despite helping to make history, Seattle fell to its third-straight loss, and will look to snap the streak in Week 14. The Seahawks face their divisional rival, the San Francisco 49ers for the second-time in a game that's become crucial to their playoff chances.
