Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Monday, June 5 — about your Seattle Seahawks

Following the 2023 NFL Draft and Free Agency, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports Declares Seattle a Top-10 Team

Coming off a loss to San Francisco in the 2022 NFC Wild Card round of the playoffs, the Seahawks have addressed both sides of the ball via free agency and the draft to improve the roster. In addition to extending the AP Comeback Player of the Year (Geno Smith), Seattle re-signed linebacker Bobby Wagner and brought in vet presence on the offensive and defensive lines. The Seahawks are also expecting to see growth out of a 2022 draft class that made big contributions as rookies. On the offensive side, running back Kenneth Walker III joined Legend Curt Warner as just the second Seattle rookie to rush for 1,000 yards (1,050). While tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas became the first rookie duo to start 12 games since 1970.

University of Texas-San Antonio alum Tariq Woolen earned a trip to the 2022 Pro Bowl after tying for the league-lead in interceptions with six. Dubin breaks down why Seattle comes in at No.10 on his list of the team's best setup for success in 2023.

Biggest strength (offense): Wide receiver

Biggest strength (defense): Cornerback

Seattle's offense was one of the biggest surprises of last season. I was ready to declare the line the biggest strength after the Seahawks landed bookend starting tackles (Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas) in last year's draft, but the interior could still use some work, and you're not going to find many receiver trios better than DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Adding Zach Charbonnet to a backfield that already included Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas only makes the skill position group better. Geno Smith had by far the best season of his career, but he did slow down a bit toward the end of the year, and the track record is not exactly all that long. Two of the best draft picks of 2022 were Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant, and the Seahawks added Devon Witherspoon to that group this year. With Bobby Wagner returning to the fold, Jamal Adams healthy, and Julian Love complementing Quandre Diggs, the back seven is strong. But the defensive front is lacking -- even after the team signed Dre'Mont Jones to a sizable free-agent deal.

Seattle is also adding a rookie class full of potential to a roster filled with talent on both sides of the ball. With two months until the 2023 preseason gets underway, it won't be much longer until the final product is on display. Read more on Dubin's Top-10 teams to watch for the 2023 season here.
